Published: October 2016

New bifunctional potassium acyltrifluoroborate (KAT) substrates have been synthesized in gram scale using optimized reaction conditions. Chemoselective transformation of functional groups in the presence of an acyltrifluoroborate has been demonstrated, and orthogonal reactions of bifunctional KAT reagents are reported. This allows for the incorporation of KAT moieties into peptides and dyes.

Interfacial engineering is considered an effective strategy to improve the electrochemical water-splitting activity of catalysts by modulating the local electronic structure to expose more active sites. Therefore, we report a platinum-cobaltic oxide nanosheets (Pt/CoO NSs) with plentiful grain boundary as the efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst for water splitting. The Pt/CoO NSs exhibit a low overpotential of 55 and 201 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm for the hydrogen evolution reaction and oxygen evolution reaction in 1.

This study introduces a novel one-pot strategy for the chemical valorization of poly(lactic acid) (PLA), coupling its base-catalyzed depolymerization with the ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of trimethylene carbonate (TMC). The process exploits an eutectic mixture of lactide (LA) and TMC, which lowers the thermal input required for PLA degradation. Using potassium aryloxide (KOArtBu) as a bifunctional catalyst, the PLA is first quickly hydrolyzed into oligomers or lactic acid, which subsequently initiate the slower polymerization of TMC.

Regulation of the Buried Interface to Achieve Efficient HTL-Free All-Inorganic CsPbIBr-Based Perovskite Solar Cells.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Quantum Engineering and Quantum Materials, South China Academy of Advanced Optoelectronics, South China Normal University, Guangzhou 510006, China.

The large voltage loss () mainly stems from the mismatch between the perovskite film and electron transport layer in CsPbIBr-based all-inorganic perovskite solar cells (I-PSCs), which restricts the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of devices. To address this issue, potassium benzoate (BAP) is first introduced as a bifunctional passivation material to regulate the TiO/CsPbIBr interface, reduce the , and improve the photovoltaic performance of CsPbIBr-based I-PSCs. Eventually, the champion PCE of CsPbIBr-based I-PSCs without a hole transport layer modified by BAP (Target-PSCs) improves to 14.

Herein, the direct oxidation of furfuryl alcohols and furfurals to the corresponding furoic acids is performed highly efficiently with potassium hydroxide as the base in the presence of a catalytic amount of PNP pincer manganese catalyst in dioxane. The manganese catalytic system can not only achieve the dehydrogenation conversion of furfuryl alcohols to prepare furoic acids but can also achieve the synthesis of furoic acids from furfurals under more moderate conditions and with less reaction time. In addition, the bifunctional furfuryl alcohols or furfurals can also be efficiently converted into dicarboxylic acid products under optimal reaction conditions.
