A new cationic molecular turnstile based on a P(V) porphyrin backbone bearing two pyridyl interaction sites, one at the meso position of the porphyrin and the other on the handle connected to the porphyrin through P-O bonds, was designed and synthesized. The dynamic behavior of the turnstile 2, investigated by 1D and 2D H NMR techniques, showed that in the absence of an effector, the turnstile is in its open state and undergoes a free rotation of the rotor (the handle) around the stator (the porphyrin backbone). In the presence of an external effector such as Ag cation or H, the turnstile is switched to its closed states 2-Ag and 2-H, respectively. The locking/unlocking process is reversible and may be achieved by precipitation of AgBr upon addition of EtNBr in the case of the silver-locked turnstile or by addition of EtN in the case of the proton-locked turnstile.

Compared with the races with a yellow scutellum (YS) and white scutellum (WS), the race with a light-yellow scutellum (LYS) is dominant in citrus and carambola orchards.

Spherical nucleic acids (SNAs) with functional peptide cores are an emerging nanoplatform for synergistic cancer therapy but have been rarely reported. We construct herein the first SNA nanoplatform based on a biodegradable binary peptide backbone of methionine (Met) and cysteine (Cys) for codelivery of a photosensitizer, Chlorin e6 (Ce6) and human liver-specific miR122 for synergistic photodynamic-gene therapy of hepatic cell carcinoma (HCC). Met supplementation by the peptide core improves the infiltration of T cells and enhances the effector function of T cells for turning a "cold" tumor into a "hot" one.

Bacterial biofilms are one of the major contributors to the refractoriness of septic arthritis. Although nitric oxide (NO)-enhanced photodynamic (PDT) therapy has been involved in biofilm eradication, the anti-biofilm efficacy is usually hindered by the short half-life and limited diffusion distance of active molecules.
