4-pyridone-3-carboxamide-1-β-D-ribonucleoside (4PYR) is a nicotinamide derivative, considered a new oncometabolite. 4PYR formation induced a cytotoxic effect on the endothelium. Elevated blood 4PYR concentration was observed in patients with cancer.

Background: The diagnosis of rare uterine leiomyosarcoma (uLMS) remains a challenge given the high incidence rates of benign uterine tumors such as leiomyoma (LM). In the last decade, several clinical scores and blood serum markers have been proposed. The aim of this study is to validate and update the pLMS clinical scoring system, evaluating the accuracy of the scoring system by Zhang et al.

This hypothesis-generating study aims to examine the extent to which computed tomography-assessed body composition phenotypes are associated with immune and phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (AKT) signaling pathways in breast tumors. A total of 52 patients with newly diagnosed breast cancer were classified into four body composition types: adequate (lowest two tertiles of total adipose tissue [TAT]) and highest two tertiles of total skeletal muscle [TSM] areas); high adiposity (highest tertile of TAT and highest two tertiles of TSM); low muscle (lowest tertile of TSM and lowest two tertiles of TAT); and high adiposity with low muscle (highest tertile of TAT and lowest tertile of TSM). Immune and PI3K/AKT pathway proteins were profiled in tumor epithelium and the leukocyte-enriched stromal microenvironment using GeoMx (NanoString).

Background: Poorly controlled acute breast surgery postoperative pain is associated with delayed recovery, increased morbidity, impaired quality of life, and prolonged opioid use during and after hospitalization. Recently, ultrasound-guided pectoralis nerve (PECS) I block and serratus anterior plane (SAP) block, together or individually, have emerged as a potential method to relieve pain, decrease opioid requirements, and improve patient outcomes.
Objective: The aim of this study was to assess if the addition of a PECS I/SAP block in patients undergoing bilateral mastectomies provides more effective perioperative analgesia compared to standard analgesia.

Women's health conditions are influenced by both genetic and environmental factors. Understanding these factors individually and their interactions is crucial for implementing preventative, personalized medicine. However, since genetics and environmental exposures, particularly social determinants of health (SDoH), are correlated with race and ancestry, risk models without careful consideration of these measures can exacerbate health disparities.
