Background: Endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) and the unfolded protein response (UPR) are adaptive mechanisms for conditions of high protein demand, marked by an accumulation of misfolded proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). Rheumatic autoimmune diseases (RAD) are known to be associated with chronic inflammation and an ERS state. However, the activation of UPR signaling pathways is not completely understood in Sjögren's disease (SD).

Faba bean (Vicia faba L.) offers a rich nutritional profile with high protein content and abundant vitamins and minerals. Processing of faba beans for freezing requires blanching, yielding liluva (legume processing water), possibly containing leached macronutrients, with potential for upcycling.

Dietary protein reduces energy intake in following meals by signaling directly or indirectly to the brain. We recently observed differences in plasma amino acid kinetics and intra-gastric behavior between micellar casein (MC) and sodium caseinate (SC) in pigs, two factors that impact food intake. Our objective was to clarify whether the supramolecular structure of casein, given as a preload to pigs, impacts on subsequent food intake.

This study evaluated the effects of incorporating biological silage from tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) by-products (BST) on the performance, hematological and plasma biochemical parameters, and egg quality (physical, proximate composition and sensory characteristics) of older commercial hens. The BST was prepared by ensiling tambaqui by-products with lactic acid bacteria, cassava trimmings, and preservatives, producing a nutrient-rich, high-protein feed ingredient. One hundred and twenty Hisex Brown hens (83 weeks old) were divided into five treatment groups, each receiving diets with 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4% BST.

Seed protein content is a critical trait in soybean breeding, as it provides a primary source of high-quality protein for both human consumption and animal feed. This study aimed to enhance molecular marker-assisted selection for high-protein soybean varieties by developing Kompetitive Allele-Specific Polymerase Chain Reaction (KASP) markers targeted at loci associated with seed protein content. Nineteen markers with high genotyping efficacy were identified through screening.
