The orthorhombic pseudopolymorph of tacrine hydrochloride.

Acta Crystallogr B Struct Sci Cryst Eng Mater

Published: October 2016

Crystallization of tacrine hydrochloride, an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor used during treatment of mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease, from a water:ethanol solution has resulted in an orthorhombic pseudopolymorph. This orthorhombic form which occurs as a dihydrate shows columns of stacking acridines together with continuous Cl-O-O-Cl chains and ladder-like ribbons composed of squares and hexagons.

Tyramine (TRM) is a biogenic catecholamine neurotransmitter, which can trigger migraines and hypertension. TRM accumulated in foods is reduced and detected using additive cyclodextrins (CDs) while their association characteristics remain unclear. Here, single-crystal X-ray diffraction and density functional theory (DFT) calculation have been performed, demonstrating the elusive pseudopolymorphs in β-CD inclusion complexes with TRM base/HCl, β-CD·0.

Institute of General and Ecological Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, Lodz University of Technology, Żeromskiego 116, 90-924 Łódź, Poland.

The dimethyl sulfoxide hemisolvate of perindoprilat [systematic name: (1S)-2-((S)-{1-[(2S,3aS,7aS)-2-carboxyoctahydro-1H-indol-1-yl]-1-oxopropan-2-yl}azaniumyl)pentanoate dimethyl sulfoxide hemisolvate], C(17)H(28)N(2)O(5)·0.5C(2)H(6)OS, an active metabolite of perindopril, has been synthesized, structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and compared with its ethanol disolvate analogue [Pascard et al. (1991).

Crystal structures and vibrational spectra of three related network-forming coordination complexes have been studied. Two novel thermodynamically stable pseudo-polymorphic solvated rhodium chloro compounds, [cis-RhCl(4)(DMSO-κS)(2)K](n), 1, and [cis-RhCl(4)(DMSO-κS)(2)K·3H(2)O](n), 2, and one metastable compound [trans-RhCl(4)(DMSO-κS)(2)K·0.25H(2)O](n), 3, crystallize at ambient temperature in the orthorhombic space group P2(1)2(1)2(1) for 1, and the monoclinic space groups P2(1)/n and P2(1)/c for 2 and 3, respectively.

2-{1-[(4-Chloroanilino)methylidene]ethyl}pyridinium chloride methanol solvate, C(13)H(13)ClN(3)(+) x Cl(-) x CH(3)OH, (I), crystallizes as discrete cations and anions, with one molecule of methanol as solvent in the asymmetric unit. The N-C-C-N torsion angle in the cation indicates a cis conformation. The cations are located parallel to the (\overline{2}02) plane and are connected through hydrogen bonds by a methanol solvent molecule and a chloride anion, forming zigzag chains in the direction of the b axis.
