Toward High-Performance Li-Rich Mn-Based Layered Cathodes: A Review on Surface Modifications.

Small

December 2024

Key Laboratory of Precision and Intelligent Chemistry, CAS Center for Excellence in Nanoscience, University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, Anhui, 230026, P. R. China.

Lithium-rich manganese-based layered oxides (LRMOs) have received attention from both the academic and the industrial communities in recent years due to their high specific capacity (theoretical capacity ≥250 mAh g), low cost, and excellent processability. However, the large-scale applications of these materials still face unstable surface/interface structures, unsatisfactory cycling/rate performance, severe voltage decay, etc. Recently, solid evidence has shown that lattice oxygen in LRMOs easily moves and escapes from the particle surface, which inspires significant efforts on stabilizing the surface/interfacial structures of LRMOs.

Article Synopsis
  • Clusters are novel materials made up of atoms or molecules with unique properties important in fields like catalysis and biomedicine, but predicting their energy and structure is complex due to the intricacy of their potential energy surfaces.
  • This paper presents a new model, MSFWOA-LightGBM, for predicting the energy of a gold cluster with 20 atoms, combining advanced optimization techniques and feature extraction methods to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • The model successfully identifies the most stable structure of the Au20 cluster as a regular tetrahedron and demonstrates superior predictive performance compared to traditional models, achieving impressive statistical accuracy metrics.

Preparedness of medical students to provide nutrition care following a nutrition education intervention.

BMC Res Notes

May 2023

Department of Health Professions Education and Innovative Learning, School of Medicine, University for Development Studies, P. O. Box TL 1883, Tamale, Ghana.

Background: Globally, 71% of deaths are due to non-communicable diseases (NCDs) of which 77% of these deaths occur in low-and-middle income countries. Nutrition is an important contributor to the occurrence, progression and management NCDs. Health care professionals' promotion of the adoption of healthy dietary habits among individuals has been shown to reduce the occurrence of NCDs.

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), as an important part of the innate immune system of an organism, is a kind of promising drug candidate for novel antibiotics due to their unique antibacterial mechanism. However, the discovery of novel AMPs is facing a great challenge due to the complexity of systematic experiments and the poor predictability of antimicrobial activity. Here, a novel and comprehensive screening system, the Multiple Descriptor Multiple Strategy (MultiDS), was proposed based on 59 physicochemical and structural parameters, three strategies, and four algorithms for the mining of α-helical AMPs.

Background And Aims: The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) provides care for more than 80,000 veterans with cirrhosis. This longitudinal, multimethod evaluation of a cirrhosis care quality improvement program aimed to (1) identify implementation strategies associated with evidence-based, guideline-concordant cirrhosis care over time, and (2) use qualitative interviews to operationalize strategies for a manualized intervention.

Approach And Results: VHA providers were surveyed annually about the use of 73 implementation strategies to improve cirrhosis care in fiscal years 2018 (FY18) and 2019 (FY19).
