Background: Despite the longstanding implementation of universal hepatitis B infant vaccination programs, the World Health Organization African region (WHO AFRO) maintains the highest prevalence (2.5%) of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection among children ≤5 years of age. Scaling-up hepatitis B birth-dose (HepB BD) vaccination could avert mother-to-child transmission of HBV infection and advance regional progress towards eliminating viral hepatitis.

Over the past decade, hospitals and health systems have increasingly adopted interventions to address the needs of patients with substance use disorders. The Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) Cascade of Care provides a framework for organizing and tracking patient health milestones over time and can assist health systems in identifying areas of intervention to maximize the impact of evidence-based services. However, detailed protocols are needed to guide health systems in how to operationalize the OUD Cascade and track outcomes using electronic health records.

This scoping review examines the role of digital solutions in active, participant-centered surveillance of adverse events following initial release of COVID-19 vaccines. The goals of this paper were to examine the existing literature surrounding digital solutions and technology used for active, participant centered, AEFI surveillance of novel COVID-19 vaccines approved by WHO. This paper also aimed to identify gaps in literature surrounding digital, active, participant centered AEFI surveillance systems and to identify and describe the core components of active, participant centered, digital surveillance systems being used for post-market AEFI surveillance of WHO approved COVID-19 vaccines, with a focus on the digital solutions and technology being used, the type of AEFI detected, and the populations under surveillance.

Introduction: Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most prevalent cancers in the world, and the fifth cause of death from cancer in men. Among the non-surgical treatments for PCa, gene therapy strategies are in the early stages of development and recent clinical trials have provided new insights suggesting promising future.
Areas Covered: Recently, the creation of targeted gene delivery systems, based on specific PCa cell surface markers, has been viewed as a viable therapeutic approach.

Supporting transitions to sustainable, resilient agri-food systems is important to ensure stable food supply in the face of growing climate extremes. Agroecology, or diversified farming systems based on ecological principles, can contribute to such systems. Based on a qualitative case study of Nicaragua, a forerunner in agroecology, this paper unpacks an ongoing transition to agroecology, focusing on how the transition has been shaped by knowledge flows and intermediary actors.
