Galactosyl-hydroxylysine, a specific bone collagen marker, has been prepared directly from human urine samples by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) on a preparative column. The compound is the didansyl derivative, as proved by HPLC and mass spectrometry under fast atom bombardment conditions. Since this compound is not commercially available, the procedure reported appears to be the simplest way to prepare it, which is necessary to measure the urinary excretion of this collagen metabolite by HPLC.

Red light emitting perovskite quantum dot (PQD) glass, with narrow-band emission and excellent stability, holds great potential for applications in liquid crystal displays. However, its low photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) remains the biggest obstacle limiting its practical application. Additionally, the mechanism behind the enhancement of the PLQY is not well understood, which restricts the further improvement of the PLQY in red light emitting PQD glass.

Adolescent depression is a globally concerned mental health issue, the pathophysiological mechanisms of which remain elusive. Membrane lipids play a crucial role in brain development and function, potentially serving as a crossroad for the abnormalities in neurotransmitters, neuroendocrine, inflammation, oxidative stress, and energy metabolism observed in depressed adolescents. The primary aim of this study was to investigate the erythrocyte membrane lipid profile in adolescent depression.

This study employs a low-field NMR (LF-NMR) method to investigate Cr(VI) adsorption and reduction in solid-liquid systems, focusing on three cellulose-based amine adsorbents. NMR revealed the effects of molecular structure on adsorption and reduction processes, providing insights into adsorbent design and mass transfer advantages for high-performance Cr(VI) adsorbents.

A simple and rapid colorimetric detection strategy, based on hydrogen bond identification of 6-thioguanine (6-TG) functionalized Au nanoparticles (AuNPs), is proposed for highly selective and sensitive determination of kanamycin (KA). In this strategy, the hydrogen bond interaction between 6-TG and kanamycin induces AuNPs to agglomerate, with a consequent color change of AuNPs from wine red to purple or even blue. The kanamycin concentrations can be quantified by employing UV-vis spectrophotometer.

Ciprofloxacin (CIP) is an extensively used broad-spectrum, fluoroquinolone antibiotic used for treating diverse bacterial infections. Effluent treatment plants (ETPs) worldwide lack technologies to detect or remediate antibiotics. CIP reaches the aquatic phase primarily due to inappropriate disposal practices, lack of point-of-use sensing, and preloaded activated charcoal filter at ETPs.
