Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), previously known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, is the most common cause of chronic liver disease in children. MASLD encompasses a spectrum of liver disease and can be severe, with 10% of affected children presenting with advanced fibrosis. While biopsy remains the most accurate method for diagnosing and staging the disease, MRI proton density fat fraction and magnetic resonance elastography are the most reliable non-invasive measures for assessing steatosis and fibrosis, respectively.

A high-fat diet could lead to obesity, increasing colorectal cancer risk due to dyslipidemia and chronic inflammation, while Piper betle (PB) exhibits anti-tumor, anti-inflammation, and anti-oxidant benefits. This study aimed to determine whether PB possesses chemopreventive effects on high-fat diet (HFD)-induced and azoxymethane (AOM)-induced colon cancer. Male Sprague-Dawley rats receiving either a normal diet or HFD were divided into control, PB, AOM, and AOM+PB subgroups which were then sacrificed after 24 weeks.

Background: Despite the substantial burden of obesity in the United States (US), data on the comprehensive range of comorbidities in different age groups is limited. This study assessed the prevalence of various comorbidities among people diagnosed with obesity (as per ICD-10 diagnosis code) across age cohorts and compared how they differ from people without obesity.
Methods: This cross-sectional study analyzed individuals from all four regions (Midwest, Northeast, South, and West) of the US who had continuous insurance coverage from 2018 to 2020, using a large health insurance claims database (Merative™ MarketScan).

Introduction: Psoriasis is a systemic inflammatory disease with increased cardiometabolic risk including dyslipidaemia and diabetes. Biologic therapy effectively treats the cutaneous inflammatory burden of psoriasis and evolving evidence suggests potential to reduce systemic inflammatory sequalae that can elevate cardiovascular risk. This study aimed to assess the change in cardiometabolic risk markers in a cohort of patients with psoriasis treated with 1 year of continuous biologic treatment.
