JMIR Form Res

January 2025

Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Programme, Ministry of Public Health, Nonthaburi, Thailand.

Background: An increasing number of multicomponent workplace interventions are being developed to reduce sedentary time and promote physical activity among office workers. The Physical Activity at Work (PAW) trial was one of these interventions, but it yielded an inconclusive effect on sedentary time after 6 months, with a low uptake of movement breaks, the main intervention component.

Self-Delivering RNAi Compounds for Reduction of Hyperpigmentation.

Clin Cosmet Investig Dermatol

December 2024

Phio Pharmaceuticals, Marlborough, MA, USA.

Purpose: Abnormal melanin synthesis causes hyperpigmentation disorders like melasma and lentigines, impacting psychological well-being. RNA interference (RNAi) uses small RNA molecules to inhibit gene expression by targeting specific mRNA, silencing genes involved in undesirable cellular functions. This study assessed INTASYL compounds, self-delivering RNAi molecules, designed to target and reduce tyrosinase gene expression to decrease pigmentation.

Background: Chlamydia is the most diagnosed bacterial sexually transmitted infection in England, but opportunistic testing remains low in general practice despite high prevalence among young people. Attempts to increase testing have been met with little success; therefore, there is a need to explore why rates remain low and how this may be improved.

Aim: To explore general practice staff perceptions of opportunistic chlamydia testing, including barriers, facilitators, interventions, and policies, using the Behaviour Change Wheel (BCW).

Working Conditions for Burns Resident Doctors-Better Now than Ever?

Eur Burn J

September 2024

Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham B15 2TH, UK.

Background: The work and life of a resident (or "junior") doctor has changed dramatically over the past 50 years. Descriptions of historic working conditions are usually anecdotal and tinted with nostalgia, but do today's burns and plastic surgery doctors feel working conditions have improved or declined over the last 50 years, and does this have an impact on recruitment and retention?

Methods: An interview was conducted with a retired surgeon who, in 1970, worked as a house surgeon (Year 2 doctor equivalent) in a burns unit for the pioneering burn surgeon Mr. Douglas MacGregor Jackson.
