In this paper, we report a sensitive, simple and inexpensive analytical method for the immunoassay microarray based on a smartphone in which various harmful substances in milk could be assayed. Tetracyclines (TCs) and Quinolones (QNs) were selected as the model targets in this study. TCs and QNs antigens were immobilized in the microarray and then samples containing free of antibiotics and corresponding antibodies as well as AgNPs labeled secondary antibodies were added to the microarray. The signal of this competitive format was further amplified by silver enhancement technique based on the development reagents and achieved a visual dots in the array. The resulting microarray could be detected by the smartphone placed in the minicartridge. The limit of detection (LOD) of this novel detection platform was 1.51ngmL (TCs) and 1.74ngmL (QNs). To achieve one-well quantitative analysis, a series of gradient concentration mouse IgG was immobilized in the same well. As a result, an internal standard curve was plotted by the signal of different concentrations of mouse IgG. The results showed that a quantitative detection of TCs and QNs established were consistent with external standard curve. Compared to other methods, this method was superior in terms of detection limit, time saving, and one-well quantitative detected with smartphone which were simple sample-preparation.

Multiacting receptor-targeting antipsychotics and tricyclic antidepressants stimulate various neurotransmitter receptors despite the different targets of postsynaptic receptors and presynaptic reuptake transporters. Their auxiliary and adverse effects may be caused by multiple targets or the modification of the neuronal membrane. To evaluate the membrane responses to olanzapine, imipramine, desipramine, amitriptyline, lidocaine, and dibucaine, we examined the inhibition of lipid peroxidation in egg yolk phosphatidylcholine liposomes.

Purpose: Diversion or theft of controlled substances is a recognized problem affecting healthcare systems globally. The purpose of this study was to develop a framework for identifying and characterizing system factors leading to vulnerabilities for diversion within hospitals.
Methods: We applied a qualitative framework method, which involved 1) compiling a list of critical diversion vulnerabilities through observations and proactive risk analyses in the inpatient pharmacy, emergency department and intensive care unit of two Canadian hospitals; 2) coding the vulnerabilities into deductively and inductively derived themes and subthemes; and 3) building a conceptual framework.

This paper introduces a highly absorbent and sensitive cellulose nanofiber (CNF)/gold nanorod (GNR)@Ag surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensor, fabricated using the vacuum filtration method. By optimizing the Ag thickness in the GNR@Ag core-shell structures and integrating them with CNFs, optimal SERS hotspots were identified using the Raman probe molecule 4-aminothiophenol (4-ATP). To concentrate pesticides extracted from fruit and vegetable surfaces, we utilized the evaporation enrichment effect using hydrophilic CNF and hole-punched hydrophobic polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS).

Background And Objectives: Assessment and care of substance use disorder within mental health services are essential due to the high prevalence and harms associated with comorbidity. Substance use disorder assessment and care are routinely recommended in clinical guidelines; however, processes are not agreed. This systematic review of routine clinical practice in relation to substance use disorders in adult mental health service aims to identify routine assessment and diagnosis processes, the proportion of patients and service episodes in which they occur and their outputs.

Background: Electronic cigarettes, introduced as a safer tobacco alternative, have unintentionally exposed millions of youths to nicotine and harmful chemicals. Adolescence, a key period for forming lifelong habits, has seen rising e-cigarette use, particularly in developing regions like Latin America, warranting thorough investigation.
Objective: To describe the prevalence and factors associated with e-cigarette use among adolescents in Latin America.
