Introduction: Oral Leukoplakia (OL), the most common potentially malignant disorder, is diagnosed clinically on the basis of exclusion of other lesions. In a country like India, where prevalence of oral cancer is very high, the issue of carcinomatous foci within OL at the time of initial diagnosis of leukoplakia has never been addressed before.
Aim: To estimate the prevalence and risk factors for epithelial dysplasia as well as carcinoma within OL lesions at the time of initial clinical presentation in an Indian population with high prevalence of tobacco use.
Materials And Methods: Clinical and pathologic data (age, sex, lesion location and histopathologic grading) of 546 cases of leukoplakia were analyzed. The prevalence rate of dysplasia and carcinoma in 546 oral leukoplakia cases was calculated. Univariate analysis was performed to examine risk factors associated with the presence of carcinoma and dysplasia within the lesions.
Results: The male to female ratio in this study was 2:1. Majority of the patients irrespective of sex had a history of tobacco use. Of the total 85% of non-homogeneous lesions and 70% for the homogeneous lesions were illustrating, features of epithelial dysplasia. The prevalence rate of carcinoma was 11.9%. In univariate analysis it was found that lesion site, clinical appearance, tobacco use were strongly correlated with the presence of carcinoma within OL.
Conclusion: Our results demonstrate that majority of leukoplakia irrespective of its clinical appearance contain a dysplastic component and significant proportion contains carcinomatous foci. Lesions with certain features are more prone to have carcinomatous foci. However there is always a chance of finding foci of carcinoma in OL anywhere in the oral cavity. Therefore, excision biopsy is always mandatory before long term follow-up and treatment is planned.

Objectives: Breast surgery is the cornerstone of breast cancer treatment. Its indications and procedures are constantly evolving. To update best practices, four questions were submitted to the Senology Commission (SC) of the Collège national des gynécologues et obstétriciens français (CNGOF), covering the indications and modalities of tumor surgery: (1) initially, (2) following neoadjuvant systemic treatment, (3) in case of local recurrence, and (4) the quality and safety of care indicators applicable to this surgery.

The aim of the present study was to explore the life-threatening complications and metastatic pathways of penile squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), as numerous patients with penile cancer are relatively young, are of good general health and have no visceral metastasis, yet have poor survival rates. A total of 94 patients with SCC of the penis who were surgically treated were included in the current study. The coagulation parameters, including prothrombin time (PT), fibrinogen and D-dimer, were analyzed.

Tumor-to-tumor metastasis is defined as when metastasis from a primary tumor (donor) grows in a different primary neoplasm (recipient). Due to the structure of the thymus and the low incidence rate, thymic epithelial neoplasm has been rarely described in the literature as a recipient for metastases. In this report,a patient with advanced prostatic cancer and under control after chemo/hormone therapy was directed to our thoracic surgery unit for an anterior mediastinal mass detected during the staging workup for prostate disease.

A 44-year-old female presented with dull upper abdominal pain. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) of the abdomen revealed a well-distended gallbladder with multiple foci of minimally enhancing, intraluminal, soft tissue lesion, and hyperdensity on non-contrast scan measuring 4.3 × 3.

A 10-year-old female rabbit developed an unencapsulated and asymmetrical superficial dermal mass on the neck. The tumour was invasive with central ulceration and contained three different histological components, namely trichoblastomatous, basal cell carcinoma (BCC)-like and undifferentiated carcinomatous. In the trichoblastomatous component, which occupied most of the tumour, epithelial neoplastic cells formed ribbon-like cellular trabeculae with a palisaded appearance and stromal giant cells.
