Background: Knee osteoarthritis is one of the most debilitating diseases associated with aging, and is estimated to affect 9% of men and 18% of women over 65years of age. Knee osteoarthritis affects the condylar surfaces of the joint and if left untreated generally leads to the slow and painful degeneration of the joint and surrounding structures. With few non-invasive treatment options for osteoarthritis patients, this study investigated the effect of therapeutic taping on knee pain in combination with spatiotemporal, kinematic, kinetic and muscle activation measures.

Methods: Fifteen participants (10 male, 5 female) with radiographic diagnosed knee osteoarthritis attended a single testing session and walked along at a self-selected pace under three different conditions (no tape, sham tape, therapeutic tape). The conditions were randomised within each testing session. Knee pain, lower limb biomechanics and muscle activation were analysed using a one-way repeated measures ANOVA to determine if any differences existed between the three taping conditions (α=0.05).

Findings: Therapeutic knee taping was shown to significantly reduce the self-reported levels of knee joint pain during straight line walking. No significant differences in spatiotemporal, knee kinetic, knee kinematic or lower limb muscle activation variables were observed between the taping conditions.

Interpretation: There is evidence supporting the use of therapeutic knee taping for the management of osteoarthritis related knee pain. Future research is recommended to better understand the complex acute neuro-musculoskeletal adaptations that explain these positive knee pain findings.

Background And Aim: Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is a disease that clinically presents with retro-patellar and peripatellar pain that affects primarily physically active individuals. This study aims to estimate the prevalence of PFPS in Saudi Arabia and the variables that contribute to its occurrence.

Objectives: This multicenter, cross-sectional study aimed to explore the prevalence of patellofemoral pain in Saudi Arabia.

Background: Health-related quality of life (HRQL) is an important endpoint when evaluating the effectiveness of interventions in people living with hip and knee osteoarthritis (OA). The aim of this study was to generate domains for a new OA-specific preference-based index of HRQL in people living with hip or knee OA.

Methods: The proposed HRQL index was based on a formative measurement model.

Background: Soft-tissue sarcoma involving the popliteal fossa remains challenging because it is difficult to achieve wide margins with limb salvage in this location. Adjuvant therapy is frequently necessary, and limb function can be adversely affected. We reviewed our experience with these tumors.

Background: Bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) is considered one of the biological treatments for knee osteoarthritis (KOA). Patient selection remains a key factor to ensure that optimal treatment benefit and body mass index (BMI) are one of the key factors to be considered. This study aims to evaluate the influence of obesity on the duration of treatment benefit of BMAC for KOA.

Total femoral replacement (TFR) is not a common surgery and most indications are for oncological pathologies. However, there are few instances where non-oncological indications might necessitate TFR; this may be a salvage surgery for failed previous hip and/or knee surgeries with consequent significant femur bone loss. We present a 59-year-old obese woman with right thigh pain and difficulty with walking of 5 years duration.
