Objectives: Acute respiratory illnesses have a disproportionate impact on older people, and especially those living in residential aged care facilities where transmission risks are heightened. Additionally, staff in these facilities have been working under challenging conditions, often ill-equipped in terms of both training and resources to successfully manage the outbreaks of these illnesses. This paper examines the actions of an Australian public health unit to improve influenza outbreak management in residential aged care facilities and critiques the outcomes through a contemporary lens.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are among the most common bacterial infections of both dogs and humans, with most caused by uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC). Recurrent UPEC infections are a major concern in the treatment and management of UTIs in both species. In humans, the ability of UPECs to form intracellular bacterial communities (IBCs) within urothelial cells has been implicated in recurrent UTIs.

From both an academic and a policy angle, menstruation is receiving an unprecedented level of attention. Within the academic literature, there are many different normative arguments being furthered for how menstruation be understood and framed - variously, that it should be understood as an issue of rights, justice, health or hygiene management. Yet less attention has been paid to the step preceding these normative arguments - how menstruation actually understood at present within global health policy.

Existing evaluation methods can be subjective, nonlinear, expensive, or reliant on anecdotal evidence making objective and consistent characterization and phenotyping of AD difficult. Multimodal analysis of patient behavior, rather than scoring of patient-generated output which can be skewed by compensation strategies, presents a unique opportunity to objectively quantify AD related changes.
