To investigate the pharmacokinetic (PK) interaction between telmisartan (Tel) and pitavastatin (Pit), a rapid and sensitive ultra performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometric assay method had been successfully established and fully validated for the simultaneous quantification of Tel and Pit in rat plasma. A simple protein precipitation procedure was adopted for the sample preparation with satisfactory extraction recovery for both analytes and the internal standard. The samples were chromatographed on an Inertsil ODS-3 C18 column (100mm×2.1mm, 2μm) using a mixture of acetonitrile and 10mM ammonium acetate containing 0.1% formic acid (60: 40, v/v) as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 0.4mL/min. The calibration curves obtained were linear (r>0.99) over the concentration range of 2-200ng/mL for Tel and 1-100ng/mL for Pit, respectively. The validated method was successfully applied to the PK study and the data did not reveal any evidence for the potential drug-drug interaction (DDI) between Tel and Pit. This information would provide the evidence for clinical rational use of Tel and Pit, and this study might be applied in therapeutic drug monitoring in patients receiving Tel/Pit combinations or single drug.

Central-place foragers face high predation risk when repeatedly using routes near their nest, as predators can learn to ambush them there. We investigated the factors influencing the likelihood of desert ant foragers falling into pitfall traps, simulating common predators such as antlions or spiders. We varied the spatial configuration of the pitfall traps, the presence of trapped nestmates and the availability of visual landmarks to study the workers' susceptibility to falling into pits and their foraging success.

Purpose: To examine the ophthalmic data from a large database of people attending a general medical survey institute, and to investigate ophthalmic findings of the eye and its adnexa, including differences in age and sex.
Methods: Retrospective analysis including medical data of all consecutive individuals whose ophthalmic data and the prevalences of ocular pathologies were extracted from a very large database of subjects examined at a single general medical survey institute.
Results: Data were derived from 184,589 visits of 3676 patients (mean age 52 years, 68% males).

Background: Over the last decades, novel therapeutic options have emerged for the surgical treatment of pilonidal sinus disease (PSD). The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcomes of trephine/pit excision surgery with or without laser therapy in patients with PSD.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted at a large tertiary medical center, including all adult patients with PNS who underwent trephine surgery with/without laser therapy between 2016 and 2021[AUTHORS TO INSERT MONTH].

Intraretinal or subretinal fluid in the peripapillary area can be clinically visualized in conditions such as peripapillary choroidal neovascularization, optic disc pit maculopathy, and optic nerve head tumors and granulomas. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) helps to visualize peripapillary fluid in many other chorioretinal conditions such as peripapillary pachychoroid syndrome, posterior uveitis, central retinal vein occlusion, malignant hypertension, hypotonic maculopathy as well as neuro-ophthalmological conditions such as glaucoma, microcystic macular edema and disc edema due papilledema, non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy, neuroretinitis, and diabetic papillopathy. Often, the differential diagnosis of peripapillary fluid is a bit tricky and may lead to misdiagnosis and improper management.

Background And Aims: Surveillance colonoscopies are crucial for high-risk patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) to detect colorectal carcinoma (CRC). However, there is no established quality metric for dysplasia detection rate (DDR) in IBD surveillance. This study assessed the DDR in a dedicated surveillance program at a tertiary referral center for IBD.
