Antibiotic resistance is recognized as one of the top ten global public health threats, posing a significant challenge to human health. The stereochemistry of chiral molecules, alongside their specific interactions with biological targets, provides essential insights for the development of novel antibacterial agents, This study investigated the antibacterial activity of 32 previously synthesized 14-position chiral matrine derivatives. Among these derivatives, compound Q4 exhibited the strongest activity against Propionibacterium acnes, with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 0.

Acne is a prevalent and chronic inflammatory skin disease, and its treatment remains a huge clinical challenge. In the present study, we evaluated the therapeutic potential of combining the peptides RL-QN15 and OH-CATH30 for the treatment of acne in mice. Results indicated that the topical application of RL-QN15 and OH-CATH30 significantly inhibited the proliferation of Propionibacterium acnes (P.

There are two main strategies to eliminate Cutibacterium acnes and to reduce antibiotic resistance in acne treatment. The first is to target the pathogenic bacteria and the second is to change the environment for their growth. The present study aimed to evaluate the anti-microbial role of non-antibiotic agents against Cutibacterium acnes (C.
