Objective: We aimed to characterize integrative and conjugative elements (ICEs) in antimicrobial resistant Streptococcs uberis isolates from bovine milk in Chiba, Japan, based on whole-genome sequence (WGS) data.

Results: Of the 101 isolates, we found the 36 isolates harboring erm(B)-tet(O), showing resistance to macrolides-lincosamides-tetracyclines. The 22 isolates were randomly selected and subject to WGS determination.

The pool of free, genetically encoded AA in plasma plays an essential role not only as substrate for every protein synthesized in the body but also as signaling molecules that regulate a wide range of physiological processes. Here we present a method for the analysis of 19 of the 20 encoded AA (except Cys) in dairy cow plasma. Isolated plasma or standards for the 19 AA were gravimetrically mixed with an internal standard mix consisting of C isotopes of each AA.

Here, thermophilic bacteria (TB) with cellulose degradation functions were screened from composting panda feces and applied to cattle manure composting. TB (Aeribacillus pallidus G5 and Parageobacillus toebii G12) inoculation led to remarkable improvement of the compost temperature, prolonging of the thermophilic stage and shortening of the composting process, resulting in increased manure harmlessness (GI ≥ 70%), compost humification, and greenhouse gas emission reduction (14.19%-22.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the presence of multidrug-resistant Escherichia coli in calves with diarrhea in Tongliao, China, highlighting the problematic use of antibiotics that contributes to drug resistance.
  • Researchers identified 40 isolated strains, all showing resistance to several antibiotics, with high levels of specific antibiotic resistance genes detected in each strain, particularly in three strains (11, 23, and 24) that exhibited severe resistance.
  • Whole-genome sequencing revealed a significant number of antibiotic resistance genes within the isolated strains, indicating a serious threat of gene transfer and amplifying concerns about the rising issue of antibiotic resistance in the region.

Introduction: Clinical research faces the challenge of declining physician participation in the pursuit of advancing evidence-based medicine. This secondary analysis focuses on the interactive mobile health (mHealth) application's utility as a real-time data collection tool in clinical settings, specifically targeting cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA) management. The study assesses the mHealth application's potential to alleviate data collection inefficiencies and improve physician engagement in clinical research.
