Here we analytically examine the response of a limit cycle solution to a simple differential delay equation to a single pulse perturbation of the piecewise linear nonlinearity. We construct the unperturbed limit cycle analytically, and are able to completely characterize the perturbed response to a pulse of positive amplitude and duration with onset at different points in the limit cycle. We determine the perturbed minima and maxima and period of the limit cycle and show how the pulse modifies these from the unperturbed case.

Background: Hydromedusae are a group of planktonic cnidarians that represent the medusoid phase in the life cycle of most members of the class Hydrozoa, whose primary function is to produce and release gametes. These organisms are generally small and translucent, with slight pigmentation, except for those that inhabit great depths and exhibit the typical body shape of a jellyfish. In Colombia, studies on this group are limited due to the scarcity of updated taxonomic information and the small number of expert scientists.

While CuS/TiO₂ has been previously synthesized and employed in a limited number of photodegradation studies, the current study investigated its effectiveness for TC degradation under UV-visible light irradiation. CuS is known to be a nontoxic, environmentally friendly material; hence, it has great potential as an alternative to CdS and CdSe, which are used conventionally as sensitizers. In this work, the CuS/TiO₂ photocatalysts achieved a maximum 95 % removal of TC at an initial concentration of 20 ppm, confirming the good utilization of active sites.

Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs), endowed with relatively small Stokes radius and low desolvation energy for Na+, are reckoned as a promising candidate for fast-charging endeavors. However, the C-rate charging capability of practical energy-dense sodium-ion pouch cells is currently limited to ≤1C, due to the high propensity for detrimental metallic Na plating on the hard carbon (HC) anode at elevated rates. Here, an ampere-hour-level sodium-ion pouch cell capable of 3C charging is successfully developed via phosphorus (P)-sulfur (S) interphase chemistry.
