Twenty-nine female northern sea lions (Eumetopias jubatus) were immobilized using Telazol in dosages ranging from 1.8 to 8.1 mg/kg. Best results were achieved with Telazol dosages ranging between 1.8 and 2.5 mg/kg which resulted in smooth induction and recovery. Optimal injection location was in the muscle mass of the lower back and hip. Dosages greater than 3.5 mg/kg resulted in a tendency toward hypothermia. Six mortalities occurred which were partially caused by the location of drug injection and perhaps the high dosage.

Introduction: Despite efforts by health organizations to share evidence-based information, fake news hindered the promotion of social distancing and vaccination during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This study analyzed COVID-19 knowledge and practices in a vulnerable area in northern Rio de Janeiro, acknowledging the influence of the complex social and economic landscape on public health perceptions.
Methodology: This cross-sectional study was conducted in Novo Eldorado - a low-income, conflict-affected neighborhood in Campos dos Goytacazes - using a structured questionnaire, following the peak of COVID-19 deaths in Brazil (July-December 2021).

Oocyte aging is closely related to a decline in female fertility, accompanied by increased reactive oxygen species levels and changes in protein posttranslational modifications. However, the role of protein palmitoylation in oocyte aging has not been investigated. In the present study, a new association between redox and palmitoylation in aging oocytes was found.

Background: Brussels chicory affluent in phenolic acids could inhibit atherosclerosis; however, its effects on exercise performance and post-exercise recovery are unknown. We hypothesized that Brussels chicory could enhance exhaustive aerobic exercise performance and post-exercise recovery by promoting lactate oxidation.
Methods: This is a single-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled two-way cross-over trial involving 32 untrained college students (men 18) who consumed either Brussels chicory juice (100 g of Brussels chicory containing ~130 mg phenolic acids and 180 mL fresh milk) or placebo (180 mL fresh milk) for 7 days with a 2-week washout period.
