Paraneoplastic syndromes in rheumatology are a group of canonical rare rheumatic diseases with musculoskeletal involvement that occur in close temporal and causal association with malignancies. Knowledge of these possibly enables a prognostically relevant early diagnosis of the underlying malignant disease. In the era of immune checkpoint inhibitor treatment, there are first indications of an increase in the incidence and severity of paraneoplastic syndromes, so that they are becoming of increasing importance for the practicing rheumatologist.

Palmar midcarpal instability is an uncommon condition diagnosed clinically with a painful pathognomonic clunk on terminal ulnar deviation of the wrist. Various causes have been described, but congenital laxity of the carpal ligaments is thought to be a key contributor. Treatment commences with conservative measures.

Background: There are few clinical studies evaluating the relationship between lunate cysts and symptomatic ulnar impaction syndrome (UIS). The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence and relationship between lunate cysts and UIS by comparing data from patients with UIS against those without.
Materials And Methods: From March 2012 to January 2015, 375 patients who had undergone MRI or CT for reasons other than ulnar-sided wrist pain were classified into the 'asymptomatic group' (Group I).

Axial sesamoiditis or osteitis of the proximal sesamoid bones (PSBs) in the horse is described as a rare condition. The cause remains unknown and speculative, with vascular, infectious, and traumatic aetiologies implicated. It is specifically associated with injury of the palmar or plantar ligament (PL), also known as the intersesamoidean ligament.
