A 77-year-old patient with diabetes and progressive renal failure suffered from severe pruritus accompanied by umbilicated, keratotic papules corresponding clinically and histologically to reactive perforating collagenosis. UV-B light therapy considerably improved the pruritus and the skin lesions.

Individuals residing in malaria-endemic regions with high disease transmission can develop semi-immunity within five years of age. Although understanding the target of the IgGs in this age group helps discover novel blood-stage vaccine candidates and serological markers, it has not been well elucidated due to limited accessibility to plasmodial antigens and samples. This study presents the first comprehensive analysis of antibody levels in plasma obtained from Burkinabe children (n=80, aged 0 to 5 years) to 1307 proteins expressed by the eukaryotic wheat germ cell-free system.

Plants are frequently exposed to environmental stresses. In a plant cell, chloroplast acts as machinery that rapidly senses changing environmental conditions and coordinates with the nucleus and other subcellular organelles by exchanging plastidial metabolites, proteins/peptides, or lipid derivatives, some of which may act as retrograde signals. These specific plastidial metabolites include carotenoid derivatives, isoprenes, phosphoadenosines, tetrapyrroles, phytohormone (like salicylic acid), and reactive electrophile species (RES), which mediate retrograde communications to sustain stress conditions.

Original antigenic sin (OAS) describes the phenomenon in which prior exposure to an antigen weakens the adaptive antibody response to a subsequent heterologous infection. This phenomenon can diminish the effectiveness of immunity acquired through vaccination or previous infections. We demonstrate that OAS arises because CD4+ T cell proliferation and regulation signals are antigen-nonspecific.
