The properties of Ru-ON states were studied in cis-[RuNO(NH3)2(NO2)2OH] under illumination. The structure contains two nonequivalent complexes, and the metastable state was generated for both molecules with 19(1) and 31(1)% populations. The MS1 thermal decay occurs as a one-step process at about 240 K according to differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). For the first-order reaction, the frequency factor and activation energy for the decay process were determined as 2.0(2) × 10(13) s(-1) and 68.3(4) kJ mol(-1), respectively. Also, the simultaneous metastable state decay observed via DSC was in agreement with IR spectroscopy.

Article Synopsis
  • A hydrogen spillover-based binary (HSBB) system is gaining attention for improving alkaline hydrogen evolution reactions (HER) by enhancing the spillover process.
  • The innovation involves anchoring nano-Ru onto oxygen vacancy-rich amorphous/crystal ZrO, which helps water molecules break down into protons that generate hydrogen.
  • The unique structure increases hydrogen adsorption/desorption rates, reduces work function for better electron transfer, and results in impressive performance metrics, outperforming commercial Pt/C catalysts.

Ruthenium (Ru) is an ideal substitute to commercial Pt/C for the acidic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), but it still suffers from undesirable activity due to the strong adsorption free energy of H* (Δ). Herein, we propose crystalline phase engineering by loading Ru clusters on precisely prepared cubic and hexagonal molybdenum carbide (α-MoC/β-MoC) supports to modulate the interfacial interactions and achieve high HER activity. Advanced spectroscopies demonstrate that Ru on β-MoC shows a lower valence state and withdraws more electrons from the support than that of Ru on α-MoC, indicative of a strong interfacial interaction.

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative condition characterized by the progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons within the substantia nigra. Neuroinflammation plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of PD, involving the activation of microglia cells, heightened production of proinflammatory cytokines, and perturbations in the composition of the gut microbiota. Rubusoside (Ru), the principal steviol bisglucoside present in Rubus chingii var.

Hydroxyl-Bonded Ru on Metallic TiN Surface Catalyzing CO Reduction with HO by Infrared Light.

Synchronized conversion of CO and HO into hydrocarbons and oxygen via infrared-ignited photocatalysis remains a challenge. Herein, the hydroxyl-coordinated single-site Ru is anchored precisely on the metallic TiN surface by a NaBH/NaOH reforming method to construct an infrared-responsive HO-Ru/TiN photocatalyst. Aberration-corrected high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy (ac-HAADF-STEM) and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) confirm the atomic distribution of the Ru species.
