A technical description of uterovaginal and rectal applicator system of manual afterloading is described. A simple solution while using domestic materials covering the requirements of present-day brachytherapy. The applicators proved to be suitable for gamma radiation sources as well as for gamma-neutron radiation of 252Cf sources.

A case report of non-classical treatment choice for mycosis fungoides (MF) presented on the left upper eyelid and forehead. Superficial brachytherapy using 3D technique was prescribed to preserve the lens's functionality, and successfully eliminate malignant lesion. Treatment was conducted with high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy using iridium-192 (Ir) source as a base and Flexitron device as an afterloader.

Background: Comprehensive quality assurance (QA) for a seamless workflow of high-dose-rate brachytherapy, from imaging to planning and irradiation, is uncommon, and QA of the source dwell position is performed in one- or two-dimensions. Gel dosimetry using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is effective in verifying the three-dimensional distribution of doses for image-guided brachytherapy (IGBT). Background: Electromagnetic tracking (EMT) has been researched for brachytherapy applications, showing a great potential for automating implant reconstruction, and overcoming image-based limitations such as contrast and spatial resolution. One of the challenges of this technology is that it does not intrinsically share the same reference frame as the patient's medical imaging.
Purpose: To present a novel phantom that can be used for a comprehensive quality assurance (QA) program of brachytherapy EMT systems and use this phantom to validate a novel applicator-based registration method of EMT and image reference frames for gynecological (GYN) interstitial brachytherapy.
