The use of the superficial temporal artery hair-bearing flap applied to the repair of burn injuries to the upper lip of two male patients is described. It is a relatively simple method of providing tissue to the injured lip with advantages over traditional methods in that it is single-staged and provides the possibility for hair growth in the form of a camouflaging moustache. Donor site morbidity is minimal. When combined with additional reconstructive procedures in the multiply-injured male face, it provides a reasonable expectation for the patient of an acceptable appearance.

Hypoplasia of the upper jaw to one degree or another inevitably occurs in patients with cleft lip and palate. The most difficult task is to fix skeletal deformity of the upper jaw, especially the discrepancy between its transversal dimensions due to the high risks of recurrence after treatment. One of the key stages of rehabilitation of this group of patients is orthodontics and surgical treatment aimed at eliminating functional and aesthetic problems of the dental system.

This case report describes a complex full-step asymmetrical Class II division 1 high-angle in an adult patient treated by extraction of compromised first molars with a preadjusted lingual appliance. Since the patient presented severe sagittal and vertical discrepancies combined with an Izard orthofrontal profile with upper lip protrusion, an extraction camouflage was performed with the twofold aim of obtaining ideal occlusal relationship and profile improvement, correcting occlusal plane cant by selective intrusion with interradicular miniscrews. Appropriate biomechanical strategies, including extraction choice and anchorage control during space closure, were needed to achieve the planned results.

Purpose: The current project aimed to examine the effects of two experimental cognitive-linguistic paradigms, the Stroop task and a primed Stroop task, on speech kinematics and perioral muscle activation.
Method: Acoustic, kinematic, and surface electromyographic data were collected from the verbal responses of 30 young adult healthy control participants in choice response, classic Stroop, and primed Stroop tasks. The classic and primed Stroop tasks included congruent and incongruent trials.
