Global profiling of bile acids (BAs) is imperative for understand their function and disease pathogenesis. But it is still a challenging task, as the collision-induced dissociation (CID) fragment ions of unconjugated BAs showed low ion intensities to insufficient analysis. Herein, we developed a highly sensitive method for pseudotargeted profiling of BAs by chemical derivatization.

As a first-line agent for cholestasis treatment in a clinic, ursodeoxycholic acid rectifies the perturbed bile acids (BAs) submetabolome in a holistic manner. Considering the endogenous distribution of ursodeoxycholic acid and extensive occurrences of isomeric metabolites, it is challenging to point out whether a given bile acid species is impacted by ursodeoxycholic acid in a direct or indirect manner, thus hindering the therapeutic mechanism clarification. Here, an in-depth exploration of the metabolism pattern of ursodeoxycholic acid was attempted.

Introduction: Guillain-Barré syndrome is a polyradiculoneuropathy of autoimmune origin, considered the most frequent cause of acute flaccid paralysis. Various associations of Guillain-Barré syndrome with other non-neurological autoimmune diseases have been reported, some of them extremely rare, such as that which occurs with primary biliary cholangitis, a chronic disease of autoimmune etiology whose diagnosis is also supported by the clinical picture. , in the alteration of liver enzymes and the presence of anti-mitochondrial antibodies.

He was admitted after a one-month history of constitutional symptoms, low-grade fever, abdominal pain and a palpable epigastric tumor. Analysis showed marked elevation of acute phase reactants (48,000 leukocytes and C-reactive protein of 19mg/dl) and dissociated cholestasis.
