A novel perturbation approach using additional metalized via-holes for implementation of the dual-band or wide-band dual-mode substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) filters is proposed in this paper. The independent perturbation on the first resonant mode TE101 can be constructed by applying the proposed perturbation approach, whereas the second resonant mode TE102 is not affected. Thus, new kinds of dual-band or wide-band dual-mode SIW filters with a fixed or an independently reconfigurable low-frequency band have been directly achieved. In order to experimentally verify the proposed design method, four two-cavity dual-band SIW filters, which have different numbers of perturbation via-holes in each cavity, and a two-cavity dual-band SIW filter, which includes four via-holes and eight reconfigurable states in each cavity, are designed and experimentally assessed. The measured results indicate that the available frequency-ratio range from 1 to 1.3 can be realized by using four two-cavity dual-band SIW filters. The center frequency of the first band can be tuned from 4.61 GHz to 5.24 GHz, whereas the center frequency of the second one is fixed at around 6.18 GHz for the two-cavity dual-band SIW filter with four reconfigurable states via-holes. All the simulated and measured results show an acceptable agreement with the predicted data.

A substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filter (BPF) with extraordinary selectivity and an adequate upper stopband for C-band Satellite Communication (SATCOM) applications is proposed in this paper. The design comprises comb-shaped slots engraved on a half-mode SIW (HMSIW) that constitute a multimode resonator (MMR). Its performance is further ameliorated by applying the first and second iterations of the Minkowski fractal curve in the ground plane as a defected ground structure (DGS).

A functionalized ethylene-vinyl-alcohol (EVOH) nanofibrous membrane (NFM) was fabricated via co-electrospinning HSiWO (SiW) and EVOH first, and then grafting citric acid (CCA) on the electrospun SiW@EVOH NFM. Characterization with FT-IR, EDX, and XPS confirmed that CCA was introduced to the surface of SiW@EVOH NFM and the Keggin structure of SiW was maintained well in the composite fibers. Due to a number of carboxyl groups introduced by CCA, the as-prepared SiW@EVOH-CCA NFM can form a high number of hydrogen bonds with CR, and thus can be used to selectively absorb congo red (CR) in aqueous solutions.

To accommodate the ever-growing data requirements in densely populated areas and address the need for high-resolution sensing in diverse next-generation applications, there is a noticeable trend towards utilizing large unallocated frequency bands above 100 GHz. To overcome the harsh propagation conditions, large-scale antenna arrays are crucial and urge the need for cost-effective, mass-manufacturable technologies. A dedicated Any-Layer High Density Interconnect PCB technology for highly efficient wireless D-band (110-170 GHz) systems is proposed.

The article presents a novel circular substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filter (BPF) with controllable bandwidth. The proposed BPF was configured using two microstrip feed lines, semi-circular SIW cavities, capacitive slots, and inductive vias. The circular cavity was divided into two halves, and the two copies were cascaded.

This paper proposes a concept of dielectric characterization of low-volume liquid samples using the coupling coefficient of filters. The concept is validated through a two-pole substrate integrated waveguide filter in which the liquid under test is mounted on the coupling section between the two resonators. Unlike the conventional resonator perturbation method reported many times in the literature, this technique uses the coupling coefficient for sensing.
