Incident Food Insecurity and Associated Risk Factors After Surgical Trauma.

J Surg Res

March 2025

Program in Global Surgery and Social Change, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts; Department of Surgery, Center for Surgery and Public Health, Brigham & Women's Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts; Brigham & Women's Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. Electronic address:

Introduction: Food insecurity, defined as a lack of access to adequate nutrition, impacts approximately 30% of the global population. Despite clear evidence regarding the benefit of proper nutrition on clinical outcomes, the burden of incident food insecurity after surgical intervention in previously food secure patients is unknown. The goal of the study was to quantify incident food insecurity post operatively and to identify associated risk factors.

Quantile regression under dependent censoring with unknown association.

Lifetime Data Anal

March 2025

Centre for Statistics, Data Science Institute, Hasselt University, Hasselt, Belgium.

The study of survival data often requires taking proper care of the censoring mechanism that prohibits complete observation of the data. Under right censoring, only the first occurring event is observed: either the event of interest, or a competing event like withdrawal of a subject from the study. The corresponding identifiability difficulties led many authors to imposing (conditional) independence or a fully known dependence between survival and censoring times, both of which are not always realistic.

Introduction: Photon-counting detector (PCD) CT represents a major advancement in CT imaging, offering improved image quality and reduced radiation dose compared to traditional energy-integrating detector (EID) CT. This study compared image quality and radiation dose using a self-controlled approach, while evaluating the impact of patient positioning.

Methods: This retrospective study analyzed data from 200 patients who underwent abdominal CT scans on both EID (Somatom Definition Flash) and PCD (Naeotom Alpha) scanners.

Background: Aortic coarctation (CoA) is a congenital heart disease that usually combines various cardiovascular malformations, including hypoplastic aortic arch (HAA). We explore end-to-side anastomosis (ESA) and autologous pulmonary artery patch (APAP) in CoA with HAA, to provide more clinical experience.

Methods: This is a single-center retrospective study.
