Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) poses significant morbidity and mortality in hospitals. Rapid, accurate risk stratification of MRSA is crucial for optimizing antibiotic therapy. Our study introduced a deep learning model, PyTorch_EHR, which leverages electronic health record (EHR) time-series data, including wide-variety patient specific data, to predict MRSA culture positivity within two weeks.

Diabetes-related complications such as diabetic foot infections foster resilient biofilms, complicating treatment. Innovative therapeutic solutions are urgently needed to address this challenge. In this research, coffee bean powder (green coffee been powder [GCBP], roasted coffee bean powder [RCBP], and spent coffee powder ground [SCPG]) was extracted and assessed for its ability to impede biofilm formation and associated functions in extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) and methicillin-resistant (MRSA)-positive biofilm-forming strains of , , and obtained from foot ulcers.

Background: Intravenous (IV) vancomycin is commonly used to treat a variety of infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The practice of administering a single dose of IV vancomycin prior to emergency department (ED) discharge may be clinically ineffective and foster antimicrobial resistance. Furthermore, this practice introduces an unnecessary infection risk along with preventable adverse effects while potentially increasing ED length of stay (LOS).

Pigs were identified as the most important reservoir of livestock-associated methicillin-resistant (LA-MRSA), mostly belonging to the emergent zoonotic clonal complex (CC) 398. Here, we investigated the presence of MRSA in sows and piglets over a period of several months in two pig farms (intensive farm A and family-run farm B). Isolates underwent antimicrobial susceptibility testing, PCR characterization and typing.
