We present a laboratory module that uses isolation of antibiotic-resistant bacteria from locally collected stream water samples to introduce undergraduate students to basic microbiological culture-based and molecular techniques. This module also educates them on the global public health threat of antibiotic-resistant organisms. Through eight laboratory sessions, students are involved in quality testing of water sources from their neighborhoods, followed by isolation of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing .

Background: Fear and horror induce autonomic protective responses, acting as "survival intelligence." Pupillometry is an innovative method that captures real-time autonomic nervous system reactions to stress.
Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of pupillometry to assess the acute response to a passive real-life stressor-viewing a truthful war scene.

Background: Due to global climate change, high temperature and heatwaves have become critical issues that pose a threat to human health. An effective early warning system is essential to mitigate the health risks associated with high temperature and heatwaves. However, most of the current heatwave early warning systems are not adequately developed based on the heat-health risk model, and the health impact of hot weather has not been well managed in most countries.

Background: Food insecurity on college campuses is a pressing issue, yet the ways in which students manage challenges and disruptions to their food security status (FSS) are poorly understood.
Objectives: The objective of this study was to examine knowledge of food insecurity as a concept, evaluate FSS, identify food acquisition-related behaviors, and determine whether these behaviors differ among FSS.
Methods: University students at increased risk of experiencing food insecurity ( = 43) were recruited for this mixed-methods study.

The human body consists of many different soft biological tissues that exhibit diverse microstructures and functions and experience diverse loading conditions. Yet, under many conditions, the mechanical behaviour of these tissues can be described well with similar nonlinearly elastic or inelastic constitutive relations, both in health and some diseases. Such constitutive relations are essential for performing nonlinear stress analyses, which in turn are critical for understanding physiology, pathophysiology and even clinical interventions, including surgery.
