Diffraction of a three-dimensional (3D) spatiotemporal optical pulse by a phase-shifted Bragg grating (PSBG) is considered. The pulse diffraction is described in terms of signal transmission through a linear system with a transfer function determined by the reflection or transmission coefficient of the PSBG. Resonant approximations of the reflection and transmission coefficients of the PSBG as functions of the angular frequency and the in-plane component of the wave vector are obtained. Using these approximations, a hyperbolic partial differential equation (Klein-Gordon equation) describing a general class of transformations of the incident 3D pulse envelope is derived. A solution to this equation is found in the form of a convolution integral. The presented rigorous simulation results fully confirm the proposed theoretical description. The obtained results may find application in the design of new devices for spatiotemporal pulse shaping and for optical information processing and analog optical computing.

Laser surface alloying of Fe, Si, and C on aluminium is demonstrated using a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser as the source of energy. The fundamental wavelength of the laser beam was 1064 nm with an output energy of 100 mJ and a pulse duration of 10 ns. The exposure was conducted in repetitive mode with a frequency rate of 1 Hz.

In this research, the preparation of copper cobaltite (CuCoO) nanorods and its potential application in photoelectrochemical sensing platform towards ultrasensitive detection of furazolidone are reported. X-ray diffraction, Raman spectra, scanning electron microscopy, and UV-visible spectroscopy have been performed to confirm the formation, morphology, phase composition, and optical properties of CuCoO synthesized by a microwave-assisted hydrothermal method. The electrochemical characteristic parameters were calculated electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry, and chronoamperometry techniques in the absence and presence of laser light irradiation.

Age-related arterial stiffness increases pulsatility that reaches the cerebral microcirculation, compromises cerebrovascular health and lead to cognitive decline. The presence of cardiovascular risk factors (CVRFs) such as high blood pressure can exacerbate this effect. Despite extensive research on the impact of antihypertensive treatments on reducing arterial stiffness, little is known about the impact of antihypertensive treatments on pulsatility in cerebral microcirculation.

Purpose: To investigate the heritability of genetic influence on macular choroidal vascularity index (CVI).
Methods: Total choroidal area (TCA), luminal area (LA), and CVI was measured using horizontal scan of spectral-domain optical coherence tomography with enhanced depth imaging in the 373 healthy twin participants. Characteristics of the participants were investigated, including age, sex, axial length, hypertension, diabetes, drinking habits, and smoking status.

Bismuth oxyselenide (BiOSe) stands as a highly promising layered semiconductor with outstanding optical, electrical, and thermal properties. For the practical application of the material toward the devices, growing BiOSe directly on the amorphous substrate at low temperatures (<400 °C) is essential; however, the negatively charged bottom Se layer originating from alternating stacks of Se and [BiO] has hindered this process. In this work, we report the method for synthesizing a BiOSe film on amorphous alumina (AlO) directly at 350 °C by using chemical solution deposition.
