Hypothesis: Understanding the Langmuir film formation process of flexible and soft materials like graphene oxide (GO) is essential, as it shows different trends compared to the conventional surface pressure-area (π-A) and compressional modulus (ε) isotherms of hard materials. Additionally, the size distribution and mechanical properties of the GO are assumed to affect the distinctive Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) film morphologies, such as overlaps and wrinkles.
Experiment: To gain a deeper insights of phase transitions in GO LB films, we propose a novel analysis of elastic tensile modulus versus surface pressure (|ε|-π) isotherms.

The performance of lead sulfide colloidal quantum dot (PbS-CQD) solar cells has long been hindered by interface defects in the transport layer. Traditionally, 1,2-ethanedithiol (EDT), used in solid-state ligand exchange, has been a common choice as the hole transport layer (HTL) in many PbS-CQD solar cells. However, the rapid reaction rate and chain length mismatch (shorter-chain EDT versus longer-chain oleic acid) during the ligand exchange process often introduce crack defects in the HTL film, resulting in an unexpected low performance.

Specific ion effects on the structure and function of many biological macromolecules, their associations, colloidal systems, interfacial phenomena, and even "simple" electrolytes solutions are ubiquitous. The molecular origin of such phenomena is discussed either as a salt-induced change of the water structure (the hydrogen bond network) or some specific (solvent mediated) interactions of one or both of the ions of the electrolyte with the investigated co-solute (macromolecules or colloidal particles). The case of hydrogels is of high interest but is only marginally explored with respect to other physico-chemical systems because they are formed through the interactions of gelling agents in the presence of water and the added electrolyte.

These limitations are turned into a strategic advantage by leveraging CDAs as a drug delivery platform.
