Article Abstract

A sensitive and selective spectrofluorimetric method has been developed for the rapid determination of europium(III). This method is based on the formation of nonluminous complex between Eu(III) and a Schiff base reagent N, N'-bis (salicylidene)-1,2-phenylenediamine (PABD) and measuring the fluorescence quenching of Eu(III)-PABD complex at λ = 390/577 nm. The fluorescence intensity complex decreased linearly by increasing the Eu(III) concentration in the range of 1.0-13.0 μM. The optimum conditions for the complex formation were determined such as a pH .0 of borate buffer. The limits of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) of Eu(III) were determined and found to be 0.217 and 0.653 μM, respectively. The maximum relative standard deviation of the method for an europium(III) standard of 6.0 μM was 2.07 % (n = 6). The proposed procedures could be applied successfully for the determination of the investigated metal ion in some spiked water samples with a good precision and accuracy compared to official and reported methods as revealed by t- and F-tests.

New methodologies have been evaluated for validating analytical characterization with artificial neural networks (ANNs). Compared to previous machine learning models, these provide more accurate and automated results with high testing accuracy. The Schiff base ruthenium complexes used in the proposed study were synthesized using 4-aminoantipyrine derivatives.

Appropriately designed catalysts help to minimise the energy required to convert the energy-poor feedstock HO into energy-rich molecular H. Herein, two families of pyridazine-based cryptates, mononuclear [MLi](BF) and mixed metal dinuclear [MCuLi](BF) (M = Fe, Co, Cu or Zn; Li is the Schiff base cryptand made by 2 : 3 condensation of tris(2-aminoethyl)amine and 3,6-diformylpyridazine), are investigated as potential electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in MeCN with acetic acid as the proton source. The synthesis and structures of a new mixed metal cryptate, [ZnCuLi](BF), and the tetrafluoroborate analogue of the previously reported perchlorate salt of the mono-zinc cryptate, [ZnLi](BF)·0.

The rise of various diseases demands the development of new agents with antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, enzyme-inhibiting, and cytotoxic properties. In this study, heterocyclic Schiff base complexes of Cu(II) featuring a benzo[]thiophene moiety were synthesized and their biological activities evaluated. The complexes were characterized using FT-IR, UV-Vis, and EPR spectroscopy, TG-DTG analysis, magnetic moment measurements, molar conductivity measurements, and elemental analyses.

Corneal blindness, a leading cause of visual impairment globally, has created a pressing need for alternatives to corneal transplantation due to the severe shortage of donor tissues. In this study, we present a novel interpenetrating network hydrogel composed of gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA) and oxidized carboxymethyl cellulose (OxiCMC) for bioprinting a biomimetic corneal stroma equivalent. We tested different combinations of GelMA and OxiCMC to optimize printability and subsequently evaluated these combinations using rheological studies for gelation and other physical, chemical, and biological properties.

Herein, we report the synthesis of copillar[5]arene-based pyrene Schiff base 1 and its characterization by using 1H, 13C NMR, FT-IR and mass spectrometry. UV-vis absorption, steady-state fluorescence and time-resolved fluorescence are done to elucidate the photophysical behaviors of 1. To understand the electronic structure of 1, density functional theory (DFT) calculations are performed.
