Background And Purpose: The use of anthropometric indicators as discriminators of hypertriglyceridemia has not been thoroughly investigated. The purpose of this article is to comparatively evaluate anthropometric indicators as discriminators of hypertriglyceridemia in older Brazilian adults.
Methods: This cross-sectional study derived from population-based epidemiological research involving 316 community-dwelling older adults (60-105 years old).
Results: Except for the conicity index and the body adiposity index in the group of women, all other anthropometric indicators (i. e., body mass index, waist and calf circumferences, triceps skinfold thickness, and waist-stature and waist-hip ratios) were sufficient to identify hypertriglyceridemia in the population.
Conclusions: We endorse anthropometric indicators for use in screening for hypertriglyceridemia in older Brazilian adults.

Prediabetes with a considerable progression rate is a primary risk factor for type 2 diabetes, if left untreated. Dietary interventions examining the health effects of prebiotic consumption on health status have been studied in subjects with prediabetes but the results are controversial. This study aimed to investigate whether prebiotic consumption can favorably alter metabolic status as well as anthropometric features in subjects with prediabetes.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the therapeutic effects of Chiglitazar combined with Rosa roxburghii Tratt (RRT) in inpatients diagnosed with psychiatric disorders and antipsychotic-induced metabolic syndrome (MetS).100 cases were included and divided into the Siglitazar group (n=50) and the Siglitazar + RRT group (n=50) Anthropometric measurements, lipid and glucose metabolism indicators, inflammatory markers and PANSS scores were assessed at baseline, 8 weeks and 12 weeks post-treatment. Both treatment groups exhibited significant reductions in waist circumference and improvements in lipid profiles and glucose metabolism indicators over the 12-week study period.
