Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one of the most widespread chronic diseases globally, with its prevalence expected to rise significantly in the years ahead. Previous studies on risk stratification for T2DM identify certain biomarkers, including glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), oral glucose tolerance testing (OGTT), fructosamine, and glycated albumin, as key indicators for predicting the onset and progression of T2DM. However, these traditional markers have been shown to lack sensitivity and specificity and their results are difficult to analyze due to non-standardized interpretation criteria, posing significant challenges to an accurate and definitive diagnosis.

Objectives: Growth failure can result from various underlying causes, necessitating a thorough evaluation. Reninoma, a rare renin-secreting tumor, is an uncommon cause of hypertension, especially in paediatric patients, and has not been associated with growth failure until now.

Background: Infants exposed to gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in utero are known to have higher fat mass (FM) and less fat-free mass (FFM) at birth, but little is known about how their adiposity changes over the first year of life.
Objectives: We identified growth and body composition patterns across the first year and evaluated for differences by GDM exposure status.
Methods: Among 198 infants (52% GDM exposed), growth and body composition with total body electrical conductivity were obtained from birth to 1 y.

Stenosing flexor tenosynovitis, commonly known as trigger finger (TF), is characterized by thickening and inflammation of the flexor tendon sheath (A1 pulley), leading to painful catching or locking of the finger in a flexed position. While often associated with conditions like diabetes and hypothyroidism, this case report presents a unique instance where surgical intervention for pharmacologically resistant TF ultimately led to the diagnosis of Hashimoto's thyroiditis. This case highlights the potential for underlying systemic conditions to manifest as TF and emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive diagnostic approach in patients with persistent or atypical presentations.
