Clarifying the inceptive pathophysiology of hypertensive heart disease helps to impede the disease progression. Through coarctation of the infrarenal abdominal aorta (AA), we induced hypertension in minipigs and evaluated physiological reactions and morpho-functional changes of the heart. Moderate aortic coarctation was achieved with approximately 30 mmHg systolic pressure gradient in minipigs.

Treatment-resistant hypertension (TRH) is defined by consistently elevated blood pressure readings unresponsive to medical management. In clinical practice, it poses a significant challenge due to the intertwining variables that may cause the issue to persist such as lifestyle, genetics, and other comorbidities, as opposed to simple medication non-adherence. This report describes the case of a 68-year-old female patient presenting for a routine follow-up with persistently elevated ambulatory blood pressure readings.

Background: Fat accumulation in the liver is affecting 38% of the global population. It can also occur in normal-weight individuals, termed lean non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). This study examines Asian and Western body mass index (BMI) criteria, as well as metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) diagnostic guidelines, in lean fatty liver cases within a healthcare setting.

Objective: To explore the association between triglyceride glucose index (TyG) and hypertension under different diagnostic thresholds.
Methods: This study analyzed data from routine occupational health examinations conducted at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University in 2019. TyG and TyG-BMI, indicators of insulin resistance (IR), were calculated using triglyceride (TG), fasting blood glucose (FPG), and body mass index (BMI).
