Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) play a crucial role in regenerative medicine due to their regenerative potential. However, traditional MSC-based therapies are hindered by issues such as microvascular obstruction and low cell survival after transplantation. Exosomes derived from MSCs (MSC-Exo) provide a cell-free, nanoscale alternative, mitigating these risks and offering therapeutic potential for liver diseases.

Traditional methods of plasmid delivery, including viral vectors, lipofection, and electroporation, are widely used for gene editing but have limitations, such as cellular toxicity, limited transfection efficiency in primary cells, and nonspecific side effects. Here, we report the development of nucleus pulposus cell (NPC)-mimicking nanoparticles (HIF1A@NNP) with an NPC membrane as the shell and pcDNA3.1-rHIF1A encapsulated in the core via extrusion.

Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is reduced at 36 weeks' gestation in pregnancies destined to deliver small for gestational age infants.

Eur J Obstet Gynecol Reprod Biol

March 2025

Translational Obstetrics Group, The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Mercy Hospital for Women, University of Melbourne, 163 Studley Road, Heidelberg 3084 Victoria, Australia; Mercy Perinatal, Mercy Hospital for Women, Victoria, Australia. Electronic address:

Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a protein commonly used to screen for aneuploidy in pregnancy. This study measured circulating AFP in maternal plasma at 36 weeks' gestation preceding diagnosis of term preeclampsia or delivery of a small for gestational age infant (SGA; <10 % birthweight centile) in a case-cohort design (122 SGA; 23 preeclampsia; 182 controls). AFP was significantly reduced in SGA < 5th birthweight centile (n = 51; P = 0.

Delivering Gd-Labeled IgG Antibodies Into the Mouse Brain Following Focused Ultrasound Treatment.

Ultrasound Med Biol

March 2025

School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences, King's College London, London, UK. Electronic address:

Objective: Antibody-based therapy has emerged as a powerful tool for targeted treatment of neurological diseases, such as brain cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. However, direct, scalable, and safe confirmation of antibody delivery into the brain remains challenging. Antibodies can be effectively tracked when tagged with molecules that are detectable by medical imaging modalities, such as MRI, PET, or SPECT.

Hand therapists' usage and perception of technology and telerehabilitation: An online survey study with a qualitative component.

J Hand Ther

March 2025

Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University, London, Canada; Department of Surgery, London Health Sciences Centre, London, Canada. Electronic address:

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic prompted a shift in healthcare delivery, necessitating the rapid adoption of technology, including telerehabilitation. This study focused on understanding the current perspectives and experiences of hand therapists in Canada and the United States regarding implementation of telerehabilitation in hand therapy, traditionally reliant on in-person interactions.

Purpose: The study aimed to assess the utilization, perceptions, and barriers of telerehabilitation among hand therapists, providing insights into challenges and opportunities for incorporation into practices.
