Objective: This study aimed to identify the binding sites for plasminogen (Pg) and its kringle-containing fragments within the αC-region of fibrin(ogen). This investigation is crucial while the conversion of fibrinogen into fibrin induces conformational changes that expose binding sites for Pg and tissue-type Pg activator (tPA), facilitating effective zymogen activation on the fibrin surface.

Methods: Two C-terminal fragments of the Aα chain ‒ 45 kDa (225Val-610Val) and 40 kDa (225Val-580Lys), were obtained through plasmin hydrolysis of human fibrinogen and subsequently characterized using MALDI TOF mass spectrometry.

Objective: Patients receiving anticoagulation therapy develop intracerebral hematomas, which are difficult to evacuate during endoscopic surgery. Insufficient thrombin activation results in the gradual conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin, forming dense fibrin bands (FBs) that harden the hematoma. We aimed to investigate the factors contributing to hematoma hardness.

Article Synopsis
  • * Traditional methods to stop the bleeding, like using a fibrinogen-thrombin patch and suturing, were challenging due to visibility issues caused by the blood.
  • * A gelatin-thrombin matrix was successfully used to control the bleeding, enabling the surgery to continue without needing to switch to an open procedure.

Article Synopsis
  • Agonist-induced platelet activation leads to a change in the integrin αIIbβ3, essential for fibrinogen binding and subsequent platelet aggregation, with the potential for reversibility under certain conditions.
  • The study investigates how platelet signaling via collagen receptor GPVI and protease-activated receptors (PAR) affects the time-dependent activation of αIIbβ3.
  • Results indicate that specific inhibitors of protein kinase C and other signaling pathways can modulate integrin activation and P-selectin expression, impacting how platelets aggregate and shape during activation.

This research pioneers a sustainable approach to wound healing by developing a bio sheet for dressings. It ingeniously incorporates healing properties of reduced graphene oxide synthesized via an eco-friendly method, using phytoextracts to eliminate toxic chemicals. Collagen extracted from fish waste and fibrinogen from post-animal waste contribute to the bio sheet's green profile.
