In this work, we describe a set of features of Corynebacterium auriscanis CIP 106629 and details of the draft genome sequence and annotation. The genome comprises a 2.5-Mbp-long single circular genome with 1,797 protein-coding genes, 5 rRNA, 50 tRNA, and 403 pseudogenes, with a G+C content of 58.50%.

Background: Growing antibiotic resistance has made treating otitis externa (OE) increasingly challenging. On the other hand, local antimicrobial treatments, especially those that combine essential oils (EOs) with nanoparticles, tend to be preferred over systemic ones. It was investigated whether Ajwain (Trachyspermum ammi) EO, combined with chitosan nanoparticles modified by cholesterol, could inhibit the growth of bacterial pathogens isolated from OE cases in dogs.

Background: Norway spruce (Picea abies) resin-based products are used in human medicine. A resin-based otic rinse also could be useful in supportive care of canine otitis externa (COE), yet information on its antimicrobial effect against canine pathogens or ototoxicity is lacking.
Objectives: To investigate the antimicrobial properties and ototoxicity of a commercial resin-based otic product.

Sarcoptic mange was detected in five free-ranging raccoon dogs () in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, during a health assessment study of invasive species, including raccoon dogs, carried out between 2021 and 2022. Four raccoon dogs showed severe lesions, including extensive alopecia with thickening and hyperpigmentation of the skin (lichenification). The fifth animal was less affected, showing only thinning of the hair coat in multiple body locations.

Six novel facultatively anaerobic, Gram-stain-positive, rod-shaped, non-haemolytic bacteria (zg-320/zg-336, zg-917/zg-910 and zg-913/zg-915) isolated from animal tissues and human faeces were found to belong to the genus based on the phylogenetic analyses of 16S rRNA gene and 262 core genes set. Based on the greatest degree of 16S rRNA similarity, zg-320/zg-336 had the highest 16S rRNA gene similarity to DSM 44353 (97.51 %), zg-917/zg-910 to DSM 44184 (98.
