Background: To improve the effectiveness of gratitude exercises in reducing anxiety and worry, app-assisted variations of the 'Three Good Things' intervention, differing in timing and instructions, were conducted.

Method: Healthy participants (n = 227) exercised either in the morning versus evening (writing down three things that induced or could induce gratitude during the day) or received identical versus varying instructions to guide the listings. Short-term intervention effects were recorded using a smartphone application before and after each daily exercise, while mid-term effects were assessed based on changes in questionnaire scores following the two-week intervention.

Circadian rhythms are a mechanism by which species adapt to environmental variability and fundamental to understanding species behavior. However, we lack data and a standardized framework to accurately assess and compare temporal activity for species during rapid ecological change. Through a global network representing 38 countries, we leveraged 8.

A Phenomenological Understanding of Aging 'Well' with Multiple Sclerosis.

Gerontologist

February 2025

Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition, University of Illinois Chicago, Chicago, Illinois, USA.

Background And Objectives: As the life expectancy of the multiple sclerosis (MS) community increases, new innovations and understandings of what it is to age 'well' are needed. Building on a line of work exploring the meaning and experiences of aging with a disabling condition, and showing how and why people aging with MS experience this phenomenon differently, this paper progresses aging and disability literature by (re)conceptualizing what 'wellbeing' means to people aging with MS, and how wellbeing may be enhanced or compromised.

Research Design And Methods: Working with 40 persons with MS over the age of 60, we used a Heideggerian phenomenological framework to co-construct what wellbeing meant among persons aging with MS.

Background: Adolescent and young adult survivors of childhood cancer (AYA) are at risk for treatment-related late effects (eg, heart and lung problems) which may be mitigated by physical activity (PA). To design effective, tailored PA interventions for this population, predictors and benefits of PA behavior need to be measured in real-time.

Purpose: To examine the feasibility and acceptability of ecological momentary assessment (EMA) combined with accelerometry and explore the dynamic associations between PA and real-time physical and psychosocial factors among AYA.
