In this article, synthesis procedures of preparation of copper zinc tin sulpho-selenide (CZTS x Se1-x ) alloy nanocrystals and the data acquired for the material characterization are presented. This data article is related to the research article doi: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.solmat.2016.06.030 (Jadhav et al., 2016) [1]. FTIR data have been presented which helped in confirmation of adsorption of oleylamine on CZTS x Se1-x . Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) data have been presented which have been used to reveal the morphological details of the nanocrystals. The Energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX) based elemental mapping data has been presented to confirm the elemental composition of nanocrystals. Procedure for the preparation of CZTS x Se1-x based working electrode for the CV measurements have been given. The summary table for the optical, electrochemical band gaps, valance and conduction band edges as a function of composition are listed for the ready reference.

Low-Temperature Solution-Processed Kesterite Solar Cell Based on in Situ Deposition of Ultrathin Absorber Layer.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

September 2015

Institute of Materials for Electronics and Energy Technology (I-MEET), Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Martensstrasse 7, 91058 Erlangen, Germany.

The production of high-performance, solution-processed kesterite Cu2ZnSn(Sx,Se1-x)4 (CZTSSe) solar cells typically relies on high-temperature crystallization processes in chalcogen-containing atmosphere and often on the use of environmentally harmful solvents, which could hinder the widespread adoption of this technology. We report a method for processing selenium free Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) solar cells based on a short annealing step at temperatures as low as 350 °C using a molecular based precursor, fully avoiding highly toxic solvents and high-temperature sulfurization. We show that a simple device structure consisting of ITO/CZTS/CdS/Al and comprising an extremely thin absorber layer (∼110 nm) achieves a current density of 8.

With the earth's abundance of kesterite, recent progress in chalcogenide based Cu2ZnSn(Sx,Se1-x)4 (CZTSSe) thin films has drawn prime attention in thin film solar cells (TFSCs) research and development. This review is focused on the current developments in the synthesis of CZTS nanocrystals (NCs) using a hot injection (HI) technique and provides comprehensive discussions on the current status of CZTSSe TFSCs. This article begins with a description of the advantages of nanoparticulate based thin films, and then introduces the basics of this technique and the corresponding growth mechanism is also discussed.
