The dietary recommendations of the Second Swiss Nutrition Report are in part based on incomplete knowledge about nutritional patterns of the Swiss population and on controversial results of relations between nutritional status and health, thus do not fulfill completely the WHO requirements for dietary guidelines. A new set of recommendations would not be based on better knowledge. However, efforts to prevent the widespread chronical diseases, e.g. by dietary measures are understandable. We therefore recommend to apply dietary guidelines never without considering their controversial incomplete scientific basis and to prevent by this a possible negative impact of dietary guidelines.

Background: Recent studies suggest a link between dietary fat quality and obesity. Genetic risk scores (GRS) can predict obesity risk based on genetic factors. This study investigates how GRS and fatty acid quality affect visceral adiposity index (VAI) and body adiposity index (BAI) in overweight and obese women.

Background: Growing evidence shows that dysregulated metabolic intrauterine environments can affect offspring's neurodevelopment and behaviour. However, the results of individual cohort studies have been inconsistent. We aimed to investigate the association between maternal diabetes before pregnancy and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) with neurodevelopmental, cognitive and behavioural outcomes in children.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is an incurable blood cancer with unclear aetiology. Proteomics is a valuable tool in exploring mechanisms of disease. We investigated the causal relationship between circulating proteins and MM risk, using two of the largest cohorts with proteomics data to-date.

Evaluating the dynamic co-evolution and feedback mechanisms within socio-ecological systems is crucial for determining the resilience and sustainability of environmental governance strategies. The grass-livestock system, as a complex entity encompassing livestock nutrition, foraging behavior, vegetation ecology, pastoralists' economic income, and policy interventions, indicates that any change in a single element may trigger a chain reaction within the system. This paper uses a system dynamics approach to construct a simulation model of the grass-livestock system in alpine pastoral areas, simulating the long-term dynamic co-evolution of the socio-ecological system in the Qilian Mountains region of China.

Introduction: Food insecurity is the condition of limited access to healthy and safe food. Malnutrition resulting from food insecurity is a concern particularly in the surgical population due to the association with impaired healing. This aim of this study was to report the incidence and risk factors for food insecurity in the orthopaedic trauma population.
