We developed a new technique for mitigating catalyst deactivation caused by SO2 in exhaust gases. A series of 0.1 wt %-Pt/TiO2 catalysts with different surface, crystal, and pore structures were prepared and tested for CO oxidation activity in the presence of SO2 and H2O. The order of the CO oxidation activity under the influence of SO2 was much different from that in the absence of SO2. Catalysts with a high ratio of larger pores exhibited higher catalytic activity under the influence of SO2 and H2O in the temperature range of 250-300 °C, whereas other parameters, such as BET surface area and crystal structure of the TiO2 support, had minor effects on the CO oxidation activity. The oxidation state of Pt differed significantly depending on the kind of TiO2 support. Some catalysts were less active without H2 reduction pretreatment due to the presence of oxidized Pt species.

As a representative agent of bicyclic antidepressants, venlafaxine (VEN) has become widely used worldwide and is frequently detected in surface waters with concentrations ranging from ng/L to µg/L. To evaluate the toxicological effects of such medications on aquatic species, studies on environmentally relevant concentrations are essential. Zebrafish were used as a model organism to assess growth and development in larvae and examine tissue accumulation, oxidative stress, and DNA methylation in adults.

Autophagic flux blockade and excessive oxidative stress play important roles in the pathogenesis of diabetic vascular calcification (VC). Transcription factor EB (TFEB) is an important regulator of many autophagy-lysosomal related components, which is mainly involved in promoting autophagy process in cells. Nuclear factor erythroid-2 related factor 2 (Nrf2) antioxidant system is considered as one of the key pathways in response to intracellular oxidative stress.

The diverse and dynamic population of microorganisms present in the gut microbiota may affect host health. There are evidences to support the role of gut microbiota as a key player in reproductive development. Unfortunately, the relationship between reproductive disorders caused by aging and gut microbiota remains largely unknown.

Understanding topological defects-controlled structural degradation of layered oxides-a key cathode material for high-performance lithium-ion batteries-plays a critical role in developing next-generation cathode materials. Here, by constructing a nanobattery in an electron microscope enabling atomic-scale monitoring of electrochemcial reactions, we captured the electrochemically driven atomistic dynamics and evolution of dislocations-a most important topological defect in material. We deciphered how dislocations nucleate, move, and annihilate within layered cathodes at the atomic scale.

Photodynamic therapy holds great potentials in cancer treatment, yet its effectiveness in hypoxic solid tumor is limited by the oxygen-dependence and insufficient oxidative potential of conventional type II reactive oxygen species (ROS). Herein, the study reports a supramolecular photosensitizer, BSA@TPE-BT-SCT NPs, through encapsulating aggregation-enhanced emission photosensitizer by bovine serum albumin (BSA) to significantly enhance ROS, particularly less oxygen-dependent type I ROS for photodynamic immunotherapy. The abundant type I ROS generated by BSA@TPE-BT-SCT NPs induce multiple forms of programmed cell death, including apoptosis, pyroptosis, and ferroptosis.
