Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a leading cause of vision impairment and blindness globally, particularly among working-age adults. As the prevalence of diabetes continues to rise, understanding factors that influence DR development and progression is increasingly important. Recent studies suggest a protective association between a longer axial length (AL) of the eye and the risk of DR, particularly in myopic individuals.

Background: The etiology of periodontitis is multifactorial, involving interactions between bacterial pathogens, host immune response, and environmental factors. Among the host immune factors, interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1α) has been implicated in the pathogenesis of periodontitis. Many studies have aimed to find the association between IL-1α and periodontitis in various populations worldwide.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a debilitating inflammatory disorder of the central nervous system characterized by demyelination, is significantly influenced by polygenic variations. Although the precise cause of MS remains unclear, it is believed to arise from a complex interplay of genetic and environmental factors. Recent investigations have focused on the polygenic nature of genetic alterations linked to MS risk.

Background And Hypothesis: Unlike X-linked or autosomal recessive Alport Syndrome, no clear genotype/phenotype correlation has yet been demonstrated in patients carrying a single variant of COL4A3 or COL4A4.
Methods: We carried out a multicenter retrospective study to assess the risk factors involved in renal survival in patients presenting a single pathogenic variant on COL4A3 or COL4A4.
Results: 97 patients presenting a single pathogenic variant of COL4A3 or COL4A4 were included.

Background: Hexaploid oat (Avena sativa L.) is a commercially important cereal crop due to its soluble dietary fiber β-glucan, a hemicellulose known to prevent cardio-vascular diseases. To maximize health benefits associated with the consumption of oat-based food products, breeding efforts have aimed at increasing the β-glucan content in oat groats.
