The [4Fe-4S] cluster is an important cofactor of the base excision repair (BER) adenine DNA glycosylase MutY to prevent mutations associated with 8-oxoguanine (OG). Several MutYs lacking the [4Fe-4S] cofactor have been identified. Phylogenetic analysis shows that clusterless MutYs are distributed in two clades suggesting cofactor loss in two independent evolutionary events.

Despite having identical physicochemical properties, chiral molecules require effective separation techniques due to their distinct pharmacological effects. Polysaccharide-based chiral stationary phases (CSPs) are widely used for chiral separations in liquid chromatography; however, the mechanisms of chiral recognition are not well understood. This research explored the adsorption, retention, and chiral recognition mechanisms of three amylose-based CSPs: Chiralpak ID, IF, and IG.

Top-view systems for lameness detection have advantages such as easy installation and minimal impact on farm work. However, the unclear lameness motion characteristics of the back result in lower recognition accuracy for these systems. Therefore, we analysed the compensatory behaviour of cows based on top-view walking videos, extracted compensatory motion features (CMFs), and constructed a model for recognising lameness in cows.

The SARS-CoV-2 virus infection, the most severe pandemic in recent human history, found healthcare systems around the world more or less unprepared. Adjusting to this challenge involved changes in the daily routines of healthcare systems, as well as the patients, once again highlighting the importance of primary care (family physician or general practitioner). In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the family doctor in Romania played a crucial role in patient management, rapidly adapting to the changes and challenges imposed by the state of emergency.

Epstein-Barr virus is highly associated with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) with genes expressed for tumor transformation or maintenance of viral latency, but there are certain genes that can modulate immune molecules. Butyrophilin 2A1 (BTN2A1) is an important activating protein for presenting phosphoantigens for recognition by Vγ9Vδ2 T cells to achieve antitumor activities. We have previously shown that Vγ9Vδ2 T cells achieve efficacy against NPC when BTN2A1 and BTN3A1 are upregulated by stimulating EBV gene expression, particularly LMP1.
