Expression of il1b, il6, il10, tnfa, hgf, tgfb, vegf, and fgf2 genes in the lungs and kidneys was examined on rat model of liver regeneration after subtotal hepatectomy. Enhanced expression of il6, il10, tnfa, hgf, and fgf2 genes was detected at the early terms after 80% liver resection.

Background: Arterial hypertension is one of the most frequent comorbidities in patients with cancer. Studies have indicated that drugs used to control hypertension may alter cancer patient survival; however, epidemiological findings for their impact on cancer survival remain inconsistent. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of the consumption of antihypertensive (AH) medication on the risk of death in cancer patients.

Choline is an essential micronutrient critical for cellular and organismal homeostasis. As a core component of phospholipids and sphingolipids, it is indispensable for membrane architecture and function. Additionally, choline is a precursor for acetylcholine, a key neurotransmitter, and betaine, a methyl donor important for epigenetic regulation.

There are limited tools available to predict the long-term prognosis of persons with coronary chronic total occlusions (CTO). A previously-described blood biomarker panel to predict cardiovascular (CV) events was evaluated in patients with CTO. From 1251 patients in the CASABLANCA study, 241 participants with a CTO were followed for an average of 4 years for occurrence of major adverse CV events (MACE, CV death, non-fatal myocardial infarction or stroke) and CV death/heart failure (HF) hospitalization.

However, even with advances in care for critically ill newborns, BPD continues to be a challenge for the care team and family members. This has been identified as one of the most important causes of morbidity and mortality due to prematurity, and can have significant impacts on the quality of life of the affected patients.
