Background: A growing body of research suggests that the provision of social support can have benefits not only for the recipients but also for the provider. Although initial evidence for affective, self-evaluative and physiological outcomes has been established, the beneficial effects of support provision do not occur consistently across all support interactions, and some interactions may even have detrimental effects on providers. The aim of our experimental paradigm is to enable researchers to test the conditions under which the provision of social support to dyadic partners affects affective, self-evaluative, physiological, and relationship outcomes for the provider.

Climate change impact on green spaces planning in an urban area using a hybrid approach.

Environ Sci Pollut Res Int

January 2025

Department of Geomatics Engineering, Hacettepe University, 06800, Beytepe, Ankara, Türkiye.

This study presents a hybrid methodology for planning green spaces to enhance urban sustainability and livability, evaluating the impacts of climate change on cities. "The biggest challenge is there's never a routine": a qualitative study of the time burdens of cancer care at home.

Support Care Cancer

January 2025

Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Transplantation, University of Minnesota, 516 Delaware Street SE, MMC 480, PWB 14-100, Minneapolis, MN, 55455, USA.

Purpose: As cancer care is increasingly delivered in the home, more tasks and responsibilities fall on patients and their informal care partners. These time costs can present significant mental, physical, and financial burdens, and are undercounted in current measures of time toxicity that only consider care received in formal healthcare settings.

Methods: Semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted with patients with gastrointestinal cancer and informal care partners at a single tertiary cancer center between March and October 2023.

Context: This study systematically investigated the effects of single S-atom vacancy defects and composite defects (vacancy combined with doping) on the properties of MoS using density functional theory. The results revealed that N-doped S-vacancy MoS has the smallest composite defect formation energy, indicating its highest stability. Doping maintained the direct band gap characteristic, with shifts in the valence band top.
