The in situ chemical oxidation technology (ISCO) and phytoremediation for PAHs have been studied respectively, but few focus on the feasibility of combining persulfate with ryegrass. This literature revealed the effect of persulfate oxidation on the growth of ryegrass and the removal ratios of pyrene in the couple system of persulfate oxidation and phytoremediation. The results demonstrated that half of pyrene in test soil was oxidized by persulfate in 7 days and then the residual pyrene concentration was decreased to a lower level by ryegrass in the following 2 months in oxidation treatment and drip washing and plants (OWP) and oxidation treatment and drip washing and plants and fertilization (OWFP) treatment. Ryegrass could grow well after persulfate oxidation with the oxidized soil washed by water. Ryegrass in OWP and OWFP treatments had higher ratios of overground and underground biomass. However, the seeds of ryegrass cannot germinate when drip washing was omitted. Pyrene together with residual persulfate changed soil enzyme activities. Drip washing and the growth of ryegrass made soil enzyme activities tend to returned to normal levels. Persulfate oxidation and phytoremediation were compatible to make contributions to the dissipation of pyrene. Persulfate oxidation activated by heat had higher removal efficiency of PAHs and phytoremediation could further decrease the pyrene concentration in spiked soil.

In this research, graphene oxide-polyaniline (GO-PANI) nanocomposite was successfully synthesized and its catalytic performance was evaluated for the synthesis of N-aryl-1,4-dihydropyridine (1,4-DHP) and hydroquinoline derivatives. The GO nanosheets were prepared using the Hummers' method, and in-situ polymerization of aniline was conducted with ammonium persulfate (APS) serving as the polymerization initiator. The synthesized nanocomposite demonstrated notable efficiency, achieving yields of 80-94% for 1,4-DHP derivatives and 84-96% for hydroquinoline derivatives.

In the manipulation of π-conjugated organic polymer, strategic alterations to the polymerization cascade facilitate the integration of donor (D) and acceptor (A) entities within the polymer's backbone. Such control is instrumental in broadening the photoresponse spectrum, enhancing photoinduced charge separation, and augmenting the efficiency of charge transfer processes. The oxygen-containing amino group (-ONH) was innovatively grafted into the polymerization process of the triazine-heptazine ring skeleton, and the -ONH was used as a capping agent to change the chain bonding in the polymerization process, thus a new intramolecular D-A structure was successfully constructed.

This study presents a novel FeO/C composite material synthesized from red mud through a process of magnetic roasting and separation. The research explores the impact of FeO/C dosages, sodium persulfate (PS) concentrations, and initial solution pH on the chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal efficiency using Acid Orange 7 as a model pollutant. Optimal conditions were identified as 3 g/L FeO/C, 20 mM PS, and an initial pH of 2, achieving a 94.

Achieving the harmless degradation of organic pollutants remains a challenging task for the advanced oxidation processes. Metal-organic frameworks have emerged in the field of energy and environmental catalysis. Herein, MIL-101(Fe) was employed as the precursor to prepare a porous carbon embedded Fe nanoparticles (Fe@C) via a pyrolytic process under N protection.

Rational design of carbon material structures is essential for enhancing the performance of persulfate-based advanced oxidation processes (PS-AOPs) in water purification. In this study, a self-doping and self-templating strategy was devised to produce N, S co-doped biochar catalysts through pre-cryocrushing and carbonization procedures employing chitosan (N-source) and lignosulfonate (S-source) derived from biomass waste. The as-synthesized materials exhibited excellent performance in removing tetracycline (TC) through a synergistic process of adsorption and catalytic activation.
