Aim: To evaluate overdentures with regard to artificial restoration of oral function following mandibular cancer.

Materials And Methods: We examined 32 patients who had undergone mandibular bone resection as treatment for malignancy and were using implant-supported overdentures. The patients were aged 55-87 years (mean=68.6) with a male to female ratio of 23:9. Marginal resection was performed in 29 patients and segmentectomy in 3.

Results: Before and after using the attachment for overdenture, oral function differed significantly. After the setting of implant-retained overdentures, maximum bite force increased on average by 362% (average, from 16.2 N to 58.8 N; p<0.01). Xylitol gum examination showed a 363% increase in masticatory performance (average, 3.1 to 8.0 points; p<0.01).

Conclusion: Implant-retained overdenture resulted in improved oral function, that was lost after treatment for mandibular cancer.

The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of different types of low level laser treatment (LLLT) in reducing pain levels, changing oxygen saturation and bite force in patients with myofacial pain syndrome (MPS). 45 patients were randomly assigned to three groups: Group 1 (GRR laser, n = 15) received LLLT with Gallium-Aluminium-Arsenide (GaAlAs) diode laser with a wavelength of 904 nm and red laser with a wavelength of 650 nm over masseter muscle region. Group 2 (Nd: YAG laser, n = 15) were treated with Neodymium-doped Yttrium Aluminium Garnet laser with a wavelength of 1064 nm and the same protocol with Nd: YAG laser was performed in the Group 3 (placebo, n = 15) using sham device.

Objective: Primary aim was to analyse dentoalveolar and skeletal effects induced by an anterior open bite (AOB) treatment protocol for intrusion of maxillary buccal segment. Secondary aim was to investigate whether a subsequent change occurred in hyoid position.

Materials And Methods: Study group included 28 non-growing subjects treated in academic setting for correction of AOB.

Background: Oral frailty in older adults can affect their eating efficiency, prolonging meal times, which can compromise food flavour.

Objective: This study explored the association between cooking methods and chewing-to-swallowing time on the basis of different oral functions in older adults.

Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 65 community-dwelling individuals aged ≥ 65 years.

Tick-bite hypersensitivity encompasses a range of clinical manifestations, from localized allergic reactions to systemic conditions like alpha-gal syndrome (AGS), an IgE-mediated allergy to galactose-α-1,3-galactose (α-Gal). This study investigated the clinical, molecular, immunological, and genetic features of two hypersensitivity cases. Two cases were analyzed: a 30-year-old woman with fixed drug reaction (FDR)-like hypersensitivity and a 10-year-old girl with AGS exhibiting borderline α-Gal-specific IgE.

Background: Examining stress distributions in abutment teeth with periapical lesions is essential for understanding their biomechanical impact on dental structures and tissues. This study uses finite element analysis (FEA) to evaluate these stress patterns under occlusal forces, aiming to enhance treatment strategies and prosthetic designs.

Methods: Three FEA models were created: a healthy mandibular premolar (Model 1), a premolar with a single crown and a lesion repaired using a fiber-post (Model 2), and 3) a premolar with a lesion repaired using fiber-post to support a four-member bridge (Model 3).
