The occurrence of fatal fusariosis in baby bonnethead sharks (Sphyrna tiburo) born at the National Aquarium, Baltimore, Maryland, is reported. An atypical strain of Fusarium solani was cultured from the tissues of two of the infected sharks following postmortem examination. Histopathology revealed an apparent predilection of the fungus for hyaline cartilage. Invasion of the cartilage resulted in hyphae with a distorted morphology. In slide culture the fungus displayed the unusual characteristic of terminal chlamydoconidium generation on macroconidia; this may be of some taxonomic significance.

Background: The passion fruit ( Sims) is a diploid plant (2n = 2x = 18) and is a perennial scrambling vine in Southern China. However, the occurrence and spread of stem rot in passion fruit severely impact its yield and quality.
Methods: In this study, we re-sequenced a BCF population consisting of 158 individuals using whole-genome resequencing.

Background: Seed-associated microorganisms play crucial roles in maintaining plant health by providing nutrients and resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses. However, their functions in seed germination and disease resistance remain poorly understood. In this study, we investigated the microbial community assembly features and functional profiles of the spermosphere and endosphere microbiomes related to germinated and ungerminated seeds of Astragalus mongholicus by using amplicon and shotgun metagenome sequencing techniques.

Agarwood is a highly prized resinous wood produced by select members of the Thymelaeaceae plant family. Its formation in Aquilaria species has been expedited using various induction techniques, revealing insights into factors affecting the chemical constituents of artificially induced agarwood. Building on this, our research delved into the potential of another Thymelaeaceae member, Gyrinops versteegii, as an alternate agarwood source.
