In this paper we demonstrate the possibility to achieve 3-dimensional quasi-conformal transformation optics through parametrization and numerical optimization without using sliding boundary conditions. The proposed technique, which uses a quasi-Newton method, is validated in two cylindrical waveguide bends as design examples. Our results indicate an arbitrarily small average anisotropy can be achieved in 3D transformation optics as the number of degrees of freedom provided by the parametrization was increased. The waveguide simulations confirm modal preservation when the residual anisotropy is neglected.

Wastewater is commonly contaminated with many pharmaceutical pollutants, so an efficient purification method is required for their removal from wastewater. In this regard, an innovative tertiary Se/SnO@CMC/Fe-GA nanocomposite was synthesized through encapsulation of metal organic frameworks (Fe-glutaric acid) onto Se/SnO-embedded-sodium carboxy methyl cellulose matrix to thoroughly evaluate its effectiveness for adsorption of levofloxacin drug from wastewater. The prepared Se/SnO@CMC/Fe-GA nanocomposite was analyzed via UV-Vis spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) to valuate optical property, size, morphology, thermal stability, and chemical composition.

An isomerization reaction of 7-aryl-3-formylpyrazolo[1,5-]pyrimidines to 5-aroyl-NH-pyrazolo[3,4-]pyridines proceeding with high yields in aqueous NaOH under microwave conditions is reported. This unprecedented transformation occurs by adding and eliminating a water molecule an ANRORC mechanism (adding the nucleophile, ring-opening, and ring-closing) studied using DFT calculations. The product's utility was proved as they have aroyl and NH groups that simple methods and readily available reagents easily modified; likewise, their optical properties were studied, highlighting their high potential as highly emissive modular dyes ( up to 99%).

Implantable multifunctional probes have transformed neuroscience research, offering access to multifaceted brain activity that was previously unattainable. Typically, simultaneous access to both optical and electrical signals requires separate probes, while their integration into a single device can result in the emergence of photogenerated electrical artifacts, affecting the quality of high-frequency neural recordings. Among the nontrivial strategies aimed at the realization of an implantable multifunctional interface, the integration of optical and electrical capabilities on a single, minimally invasive, tapered optical fiber probe has been recently demonstrated using fibertrodes.

Materials usually fracture before reaching their ideal strength limits. Meanwhile, materials with high strength generally have poor ductility, and vice versa. For example, gold with the conventional face-centered cubic (FCC) phase is highly ductile while the yield strength (~10MPa) is significantly lower than its ideal theoretical limit.
